I was watching E! and I don't know if this is old news but they are working on casting "Bewitched" with Nicole Kidman playing Samantha. Negotions to play the role of her husband Darren have begun with Will Ferrell.

 

Will this be just another classic TV turned to trash movie?

 

Can Will Ferrell save this project?

I think it would be hysterical if Darren starts as Will Ferrel, but half way through the movie he turns into Vince Vaughan or somebody and they don't say a word. Like they cut to a reaction shot of Samantha, then back to Darren and BAM! different dude. I'm telling you, the most important piece of that casting will be Endora.

Visually Im seeing Anjelica Huston, but comedically, someone like Doris Roberts could pull it off

Well if they are casting someone like Nicole Kidman, I doubt it's going to be a trash movie. They may actually be serious about this TV remake.

 

Darren was often the straight man, but not always. You may be thinking of Larry Hagman on I Dream of Jeannie, who was almost always the straight man.

Dick York was always the straight man, but they wound up giving Sargeant a little more stuff to do comedically. Hagman was great on Jeannie, but I don't think a movie of that could work.

 

For Endora, I like Christine Baranski or Anne Meara.

I'm thinking Shirley McClaine for Endora, though Anjelica Huston or Christine Baranski would work.

 

And while Farrell's cool, I still think Jim Carrey would work perfect for Darren (might make the film too pricey though)

They couldn't get away with it without people knowing, though. IMDB would list both Darrens... unless properly bribed.

IMDB only knows what other outlets know, if they can manage to keep it under wraps from everyone else, then imdb won't know.

What you could do is have the second Darren listed as Uncle Arthur or Dr. Bombay or some other random character to throw people off.

This is true. What I was thinking was that even if you know there are two Darrens, you'd have no idea when they'd switch, so even then they could work it so it'd be a little unpredictable and funny. Still, that's a good idea.
