Vader vs Hansen - Eyeball Match

Just watched it for the first time today.... FUCK. The swelling around his eye was TOTALLY nasty (You didn't actually get to see it pop out, because the camera switched to a crowd shot) and what was Hansen's main offence in the match? KICKS TO THE HEAD, PUNCHES TO THE HEAD, AND KNEEDROPS TO THE HEAD. That was one of the most insane displays of pure brutality I've ever seen. OK, as a match, granted, it isn't too far up on the Star rating scale, but c'mon... that was incredible.

 

 

I was wondering though; does there exist any footage/pictures of Vader when the eyeball was out? I'm morbidly curious.

I was also disappointed in that morbid way that they didn't show whatever happened... when they switched to "random crowdshot camera" and you heard the crowd groaning in unison to what happened in the ring, you knew they had to have cut out something special.

Ok, I've seen the match....quality kinda sucks. Is his eye actually on the canvas? Because all I can see from the MPG file is his eye slightly swelled up and puffy.

It popped out onto his cheek, and he pushed it back into the socket where the swelling kept it in place for the next 20 minutes of the match.

Personally, I probably would have freaked out and not been able to continue the match, but that Vader sure is a professional.

Interesting to note that Afa the Wild Samoan had his eyeball popped out as well. He describes the entire ordeal in a Beyond the Mat bonus feature.

Vader is the bodypart man!!! Eyeball pops out, check. Rips off Cactus Jack's ear, check. All we need is for him to wrestle HHH and have him clip that nose.

That's what happens when your fracture the eye socket part of the skull(I wanna say the orbital bone but I'm not sure). I wanna know where was the ref with the 'X'...cause from what I saw of the match he just went on his merry way as if nothing happened

Is this their 2/14/90 match? I've seen that one, where Vader's eye is horribly swollen, but I didn't see any obvious edits on where the injury happened. Just lots and lots of stiff chops.

Whenever is see the match on tape- I get goosebumps watching it, and nearly puked the first time I saw it. Kudos to Vader for going through it though, that ear ripping son of a bitch
