starvenger Posted October 16, 2003 Report Posted October 16, 2003 In my keeper league I just acquired Brad Johnson for Kerry Collins and 5th in next years draft, and happily this also matches my QBs in my other league (where I also have Drew Bledsoe). So my dilemma is, do I start Steve McNair against a tough Carolina D where I know he'll be forced to pass, or do I start Johnson when several of his receivers are hurting and they'll likely look to Pittman to pound on the 49ers D-line?
razazteca Posted October 16, 2003 Report Posted October 16, 2003 I fear the Panthers so go with Johnson, also Eddie George and Holcomb do not look like they will help McNair in the game so go with the Bucs QB.
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted October 16, 2003 Report Posted October 16, 2003 Go with Brad Johnson. While McNair had a huge week last week it is possible for him to get shut down and I think being forced to pass on the Panthers isn't going to help you.
the pinjockey Posted October 17, 2003 Report Posted October 17, 2003 I would never never never bench McNair the way he is playing. You can't bench the best QB in the league right now.
Fökai Posted October 17, 2003 Report Posted October 17, 2003 Start McNair. The offense of Tampa won't be the reason that the 49ers may be in trouble. With Alstott out, along with others reeling from injuries, Johnson will be lucky to get anything going.
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted October 17, 2003 Report Posted October 17, 2003 Some stats for you to munch on. Brad Johnson is 125 of 190 for 1355 yrds. has 12 TDs and 3 INTs. He has zero fumbles lost. Steve McNair is 118 of 183 for 1601 yrds. has 11 TDs and 2 INTs. He has 5 fumbles and has lost 4 of those. So McNair's facing a tougher defense and he's more prone to turnovers than Johnson.
the pinjockey Posted October 17, 2003 Report Posted October 17, 2003 He also has 2 rushing TDs throw in there, plus with the Carolina front four Eddie George isn't doing anything. So they will be passing a whole lot. TB has the very good possibility of going up on SF early, and turning it into a clock eating offense.
razazteca Posted October 17, 2003 Report Posted October 17, 2003 Also consider that 2 of the Titans TE (Wycheck & Meirer) are injuried. So the Panthers D will probably blitz alot and DBs will double cover Derrick Mason.
the pinjockey Posted October 17, 2003 Report Posted October 17, 2003 Bennett, McCairns and Calico have been able to make the plays when called upon.
razazteca Posted October 17, 2003 Report Posted October 17, 2003 Well McNair is going to be running for his life in the game.
