haVoc Posted October 17, 2003 Report Posted October 17, 2003 What's inside the minds of Metallica? Well that is exactly what Bruce Sinofsky and Joe Berlinger have done for the past two and a half years. Their documentary is entitled “Some Kind of Monster” dealing with a range of topics from the struggle to record St. Anger, losing a band mate, the battle against napster and James Hetfield’s fight with his own personal demons. “Some Kind of Monster” should hit theatres around March 2004. Credit: Much Music/411 This must be another fake Metallica story, right? Who the Hell would go to the movies for this? This should be straight to TV, MTV, VH1, Much Music or actually put out as a DVD for Metallica fans.
Guest Choken One Posted October 17, 2003 Report Posted October 17, 2003 I don't mind Documentries, this is different then Glitter and Gigli.
LaParkaYourCar Posted October 17, 2003 Report Posted October 17, 2003 People in the theaters will be booing the whole time during the Napster part.
Red Hot Thumbtack In The Eye Posted October 17, 2003 Report Posted October 17, 2003 vh1 has 2 separate "Behing The Music" pieces on Metallica IIRC. And also, IIRC, they covered exactly this same shit.
Nevermortal Posted October 17, 2003 Report Posted October 17, 2003 Documentaries NEVER do good in the theaters. I remember when I went to see Beyond the Mat and there were like a total of 5 other people in the theater.
Guest Mindless_Aggression Posted October 17, 2003 Report Posted October 17, 2003 I smell an Oscar. Well I would assume so. Metallica is a metal juggernaut from what "da kidz" have told me. I will see this just so I can witness the complete joke the band has become up close and personal.
justsoyouknow Posted October 17, 2003 Report Posted October 17, 2003 Only if Lars give us a speech on the meaning of life. Then, and only then, will I enjoy this movie.
Corey_Lazarus Posted October 17, 2003 Report Posted October 17, 2003 I shall cry during this movie. Twice. Once during the talks about Cliff's death (especially if they have a re-enactment). And once during the recording sessions of St. Anger.
NoCalMike Posted October 17, 2003 Report Posted October 17, 2003 anyone who pays to go boo at this movie is lame. just don't spend the money on metallisuck in the first place. it does metallica no harm for people to boo the movie because they already have your money which if you ask lars, is all they are after anyway.
Corey_Lazarus Posted October 18, 2003 Report Posted October 18, 2003 "Why would they pay just to boo us?"

They were supposed to release this documentary at the same time as St Anger but they postponed it for a theatrical release. As for the person who said documentaries don't like this sell, they are forgetting that these kind of documentaries almost always released to limited runs in big cities and make the bulk of their money in the VHS/DVD market. See Wilco's recent documentary for a classic example of this type of surefire strategy...
Guest Plushy Al Logan Posted October 20, 2003 Report Posted October 20, 2003 Audience Boos Lars: Are they booing me?! Kirk: Umm... no! Bob: They are saying boo-urns. James: Hoo-yeah! I'm off to never-never-land!
