Guest Salacious Crumb Posted October 21, 2003 Report Posted October 21, 2003 Wow that was a name from the past this weekend wasn't it? So do you think Denver can win with it's 3rd string QB or are they in trouble for the next couple of weeks? I mean Kannell was never that great when he played for the Giants.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted October 21, 2003 Report Posted October 21, 2003 Danny Kannell, huh? Even though he's probably not, I'm thinking he's a mediocre token old QB for some reason. I vaguely remember him playing for the Giants, but nothing else sparks a memory.
Guest Choken One Posted October 21, 2003 Report Posted October 21, 2003 Why not just pick Up Drew Henson who likely is similar to Plummer's style anyways or hell Akili Smith can hand the ball to portis rather effectively
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted October 21, 2003 Report Posted October 21, 2003 Why not pick up Elvis Grbac? I barely remember Kannell too, but I came across his name on Whatifsports.com and saw the name this weekend.
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted October 21, 2003 Report Posted October 21, 2003 I'm sure for the right price he'd consider coming back for a few weeks.
sfaJack Posted October 21, 2003 Report Posted October 21, 2003 Why not just pick Up Drew Henson who likely is similar to Plummer's style anyways or hell Akili Smith can hand the ball to portis rather effectively 1. Denver would have to trade for him. The trade dealine has already passed. Henson would probably come at a somewhat steep price as well, and probably one that is far too great to pay when you just need a fill-in QB until Plummer comes back in a few weeks (unless he's out for the year....did I miss something?). 2. Henson hasn't played football for nearly three years now. Not only is he probably not in "football shape," but he's rusty as well. You couldn't throw him out there with just a week's prep time. That'd be insane. I don't believe Kent Graham is currently on anyone's roster. He's better than Danny freakin' Kanell, and would make a decent fill-in until Plummer gets back.
the pinjockey Posted October 21, 2003 Report Posted October 21, 2003 I would just grab Neil O'Donnell. He played decent backing up McNair and as long as the offense is centered around the QB turning around and stuffing the ball in #26's chest they'll survive.
sfaJack Posted October 21, 2003 Report Posted October 21, 2003 O'Donnell works. I had forgotten that the Titans let him go.
MarvinisaLunatic Posted October 21, 2003 Report Posted October 21, 2003 Jeff George is floating around.. Anyways, the Ravens are gonna beat the Broncos this week. The Ravens OWN the Broncos (remembers last year, and the 2000 playoffs)..
Guest Choken One Posted October 21, 2003 Report Posted October 21, 2003 yeah but George is cocky and would ask for 14 mil for his two week start... But O Donnell would be a good starter period much less a suitable back up.
Guest El Satanico Posted October 21, 2003 Report Posted October 21, 2003 The coaching staff likes Kannel, so they are comfortable with him playing. It's not like they are putting the game on his shoulders, Portis is still the main offensive weapon. The only thing Kannel needs to do is manage the game. Kannel's job isn't to win the game, it's to not lose the game. I believe Kannel has worked with Denver for a few years now. As we have seen in the NFL over the last few years, If Kannel knows the system he'll be fine.
kkktookmybabyaway Posted October 24, 2003 Report Posted October 24, 2003 And the Broncos can run the ball, so depending on the opponent's defense Kannell can just play not to lose instead of playing to win...
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted October 24, 2003 Report Posted October 24, 2003 What ever happened to Trent Dilfer?
Guest FrigidSoul Posted October 24, 2003 Report Posted October 24, 2003 What ever happened to Trent Dilfer? he's the back-up in Seattle Am I the only one who wants to see the 3rd string QB injured? They can just keep doing direct snaps to Portis for the rest of the day
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted October 24, 2003 Report Posted October 24, 2003 I forgot about that. Blew my mind when he split w/ the Ravens after the superbowl victory..I mean, he was such a perfect fit for that system.
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted October 24, 2003 Report Posted October 24, 2003 They'll have the practice squad QB backing Kannell up.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted October 24, 2003 Report Posted October 24, 2003 Neil O'Donnell is a shitty choke artist. He'd be one of the last people in the history of football that I'd want as my QB.
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted October 24, 2003 Report Posted October 24, 2003 The Broncos signed Jarious Jackson to back-up Kannell.
AboveAverage484 Posted October 24, 2003 Report Posted October 24, 2003 If Kanell got hurt, then Rod Smith would QB. At least they got Jarius Jackson as Kanell's backup now.
Der Kommissar Posted October 24, 2003 Report Posted October 24, 2003 And it gets worse.... DENVER -- Danny Kanell missed Friday's practice with the flu, leaving the Denver Broncos with one healthy quarterback for Sunday's game at Baltimore. Newly re-signed quarterback Jarious Jackson took all the snaps Friday, and he said he was coming down with a cold. Kanell, who was vomiting and experiencing other symptoms of the flu, was given intravenous fluids. Damn. Danver can't seem to catch a break.
Guest El Satanico Posted October 24, 2003 Report Posted October 24, 2003 Denver sure does have bad luck with QBs this year. I'd be surprised if Kanell doesn't play, unless he has a major case of the flu or if it caused him to miss important "can't miss" practices.
King Kamala Posted October 24, 2003 Report Posted October 24, 2003 Fools! All of you fools! The Broncos should try and coax Ryan Leaf out of retirement!
Kahran Ramsus Posted October 25, 2003 Report Posted October 25, 2003 Not only that but it looks like Jackson is coming down with flu symptoms himself now. Watch out people. Rod Smith might be starting at QB for the Broncos this week.
Kahran Ramsus Posted October 25, 2003 Report Posted October 25, 2003 In other news Rob Johnson has been released by Washington. Maybe Denver could pick him up.
