Guest TripleHater Posted October 23, 2003 Report Posted October 23, 2003 Is it just me or does the REF's hit the mat 4 times Sometimes? It be seeming like it sometimes...I know last week in a raw match or it was smackdown I sworn I heard the REF hit the mat 4 times because I counted but the crowd did nothing like booo but I guess they was too bored to even open there damn mouths.
Guest Choken One Posted October 23, 2003 Report Posted October 23, 2003 You are hearing Echos. When they slap the mat...it can make a echo if it's miked a certain way

Guest Mulatto Heat Posted October 23, 2003 Report Posted October 23, 2003 That first sound you hear is likely the ref dropping to his knees. Tim White (I think) was really bad for doing that but there is another who does it as well.

HellSpawn Posted October 23, 2003 Report Posted October 23, 2003 or maybe when the ref hit the mat with his knees.
Slayer Posted October 23, 2003 Report Posted October 23, 2003 I remember in the old Simpsons episode when they were watching a pro wrestling match and generic heel wrestler hits generic face wrestler with a wrench and does the arrogant foot pin, I think the referee actually slaps the mat 4 times. And even a 4 count is still not enough for King Kong Bundy
dubq Posted October 23, 2003 Report Posted October 23, 2003 I've also heard this before.. but I've also seen it. Some refs are old school and slip their hand under the opponents shoulders to check if they're in a correct pinfall position, and it looks like he might be doing a one count at that point...
Guest Plushy Al Logan Posted October 23, 2003 Report Posted October 23, 2003 Sometimes I only hear a two-count.
Guest Eric the Eagle Posted October 23, 2003 Report Posted October 23, 2003 I've heard the "extra" count a time or two, too. The problem, is that some refs will take the first count while they throw themselves to the ground, and others don't. Trust me when I say it'll make problems when you're going for a close therr-count...
rising up out of the back seat-nuh Posted October 23, 2003 Report Posted October 23, 2003 Sometimes I only hear a two-count. Yes, but you're a moron.
Jack_Bauer Posted October 23, 2003 Report Posted October 23, 2003 Sometimes I hear that, and Im like 'that was a damned three count'. One time when it really WAS a fuck up was X-Pac v Gangrel when the referee counted to three and then Gangrel kicked out. The match went on as if nothing happened.

I think the first time I ever noticed this was RR 94 during the tag match. White hit the ground (slap #1), counted 2 (2 & 3) and I marked for new champs....except I didn't realize he only counted 2 officially and one f the Quebecers kickd out.
