Guest El Satanico Report post Posted October 24, 2003 He waited until less than a week before the season starts? :imagines Riley during practice suddenly saying "nah man fuck this I'm out": It all makes sense now... OOOOR! :imagines Riley bursting into the GM's office slapping a hundred dollar bill onto his desk and exclaiming "I'm Out!":
Dangerous A 0 Report post Posted October 24, 2003 This is huge. And not in a good way for the Heat. If this was a spur of the moment thing, its fucked up because the players have already gone through training camps and preseason with Riley and now they have to adjust to a whole new coach. I'd bet it'll probrably be one of Riley's assistants, but still, I've had mid season coaching changes when I played organized and even if the same system is implemented, the way it's taught will be different and there'll be an adjustment period. Guest thrall585 Report post Posted October 24, 2003 Riley never got the Heat past the Knicks, he should have been fired back then as coach. And as president he should have been fired when he decided to keep the cripple Tim Hardaway for the 00-01 season and signing the loser Eddie Jones.

Stan Van Gundy, Jeff's brother, was named the coach and yes he was a Riley assistant and apparantly had said in the past that he would be his eventual replacement. alfdogg 0 Report post Posted October 25, 2003 Yeah, I think that's weird, too...Riley has been gushing over Odom ever since he came into the league, then he finally is able to get him, and now he quits?
