Use Your Illusion Posted October 26, 2003 Report Posted October 26, 2003 i just love hi interaction with the crowd and the constant taunting of the opponent Agreed. Steiner is one of the best at this, he goes out of his way to ensure that he lets the fans know that he hates them with a passion. Not to mention his little comments to the ref during the match (after knocking down an opponent "COUNT!...YOU count faster!"). That's definitely what WWE needs more of, crowd interaction. UYI

Guest Megatron Posted October 27, 2003 Report Posted October 27, 2003 He had his one chance at RR and he blew it. He couldn't even do his signature moves. I know, I know, "ring rust." But he sure found the time to keep his "peaks" from becoming hills. Steiner's been useless since '99. In the immortal words of Slick: "Turn out the lights, the party's oooooooover."
Guest Dynamite Kido Posted October 27, 2003 Report Posted October 27, 2003 RVD MARK, your becoming quite the post whore on here. Jeeezzzz. Oh, and not a chance in hell that Steiner can ever work up to ME again. He is too roided, and too much of his athleticism went strait to the shitter.

Guest MikeSC Posted October 27, 2003 Report Posted October 27, 2003 they could make it a heel/heel fued. although theres no face, it would be ratings gold. and by the way, i am aware of steiners in ring limitations, but he can do his part simply with promos and sports entertainment stuff. besides, jerichos the only wrestler light enough for steiner to look good against who is worth half a shit Umm, Scott can't talk or act to save his life. Benoit cuts better promos. What, exactly, could he do "entertainment"-wise? -=Mike
Guest MikeSC Posted October 27, 2003 Report Posted October 27, 2003 Steiner has more raw, natural talent than almost anyone on the roster. Sure he's limited, but his grasp of wrestling and getting the fans into a match make him valuable. Scott IS excellent. If this is 1991. Alas, it is not 1991. He sucks pretty hard now. All of the "talent" he allegedly has won't make him a good worker. He's WELL past that point. His WCW work was horrid and his WWE stint has been characterized by apathy to his matches by the fans. Heck, the crowd turned on him big-time at Rumble and NWO --- and that does not equal good heel heat. -=Mike
SamoaRowe Posted October 27, 2003 Report Posted October 27, 2003 Scott Steiner was fun to boo at the house show I went to. He didn't put on a classic wrestling match, but it was entirely watchable and he managed to get some excellent crowd interation. I think if they worked things out correctly, Steiner could be the heel version of Hulk Hogan (not good in the ring, but get's the crowd's interest).
notJames Posted October 27, 2003 Report Posted October 27, 2003 But the question is: can Steiner make a good ME heel? I say nay. He's a small blip on the radar, barely registered but making constant annoying sounds. No one cares enough about him enough to want to see him wrestle in a significant match. Pairing him with Jericho reeks of desperation, and will only hurt Jericho in the end.

Scott's never shown the ability to generate any level of fan interaction that Hogan did. Hogan, as horrible as he was, connected with the fans. God knows how, but he did it. Steiner has not. He did not in WCW and he has not in WWE. -=Mike
Guest NCJ Posted October 27, 2003 Report Posted October 27, 2003 I agree he hasn't connected in the WWE, but he was WAY over in WCW. The only problem was that the push came to late in his career so his ring work could be better. Honestly Steiner could be a decent main event heel if built properly, but they won't kill half the roster to do it., wich is exactly what it would take to get him over again.
Guest Mulatto Heat Posted October 27, 2003 Report Posted October 27, 2003 And if you have to be fed half a roster to get over then you're not exactly that very good, nor is it worth being done in the first place.

Seeing as how I was one of the few who actually WATCHED WCW at the bitter end, I can say that he was definitely not "very" over. He killed other guys, but his amount of heat was minimal. When he was in the ring with, say, Hugh Morrus, you could hear crickets. -=Mike

Like I said his group was getting stale because they were murdering everybody, but Steiner was over. I guess we just disagree on this one.

Of course, the champs from that point on were Sid, Jarrett, Arquette, Flair (for a day or two), Nash (also for a day or two), and Booker, who was booked to look WEAK. Steiner was the first champ to be booked as a STRONG champ --- so, yeah, he was more over than them. But, compared to somebody like, say, Goldberg --- he was not in the same state that contained the ballpark that was being over. Scott as WCW Champ was nothing. Fans didn't care about him. -=Mike
Guest NCJ Posted October 28, 2003 Report Posted October 28, 2003 To me the main difference between Goldberg and Steiner's pushes is that Goldberg beat guys at a time when they were still credible. He beat Hogan, DDP, Sting, Hall, and The Giant when they still had credibility. When Steiner beat Nash, DDP, and everyone other than Booker had already lost most of their credibility in fueds with the Natural Born Thrillers, and other lesser talents. Goldberg was more over than Steiner there is no arguing that, but Steiner was still over. P.S. I honestly thought they did a decent job with pushing Booker as the champ. I just wish it would have cam without all the stupid Russo shit.
