Ambulance match at Survivor Series

Recommended Posts

Guest JumpinJackFlash

The Ambulance match is proof that the WWE is having too many overhyped gimmick matches, and they're running out of them. It started with Judgment Day. The "most brutal match ever" has taken place almost every month since May.

Judgment Day:Stretcher Match

Bad Blood:Hell in a Cell Match

Vengeance:Nothing. Thing is was a Smackdown only ppv.

Summerslam:Elimination Chamber match

Unforgiven:Last Man Standing

No Mercy:Biker Chain match

Survivor Series:Double Feature-Ambulance Match and Buried Alive

Armaggedon:Coal Miner's Glove match :bonk:

Well there was a lack of Gimmick matches for months on WWE PPVs. Why are people complaining now? Gimmick matches always add an extra twist on the matches if they're pulled off correctly.

Either the gimmicks suck (ex. Ambulance, Buried Alive) over they are so overused that they have lost all meaning (ex. ladder, HIAC). I don't really count things like the Bar Room Brawl or the various table matches and so on. Those are promoted as fun sportz entertainment segments, not as a major hyped up match.

There is a reason that people pay attention when it is Royal Rumble time, or when they decide to have an Iron Man Match. The Elimination Chamber could be like that if they were booked better. HIAC used to be something that people looked forward too. Wasting it on feuds like HHH/Jericho or HHH/Nash was pointless. At least Brock/Taker managed to get Brock super-over for a little bit so that filled its purpose, but there was no reason for the others or even the Armaggeddon 6 Man. I don't even want to talk about the Bossman HIACs.

There was no reason for Brock/Taker III to have a gimmick, yet it didn't stop them, and it was a bad gimmick at that. Once again it comes back to WWE being able to think things out, and it is something that they aren't very good at doing.

Just look at the two best matches of the year. Angle/Benoit from the Royal Rumble and WGTT/Animals from Vengeance. Both of them had no gimmicks, no interference, and clean finishes. They were just two or four great wrestlers just getting in the ring and putting on a fantastic show. WWE needs to get back to that.

Well written. I agree with you on almost every aspect. I feel that every once in a while they should bring up the "No Holds Barred," or "Falls Count Anywhere [in the fuckin' building, Vinne Mac]" every once in a while to generate some interest. The only thing I see wrong with "Falls Count Anywhere" match is that it always ends up backstage, the fight should spill into the crowd at least once.

In 99 EVERY main event seemed to spill into the crowd. And it was just boring. All they did was punch a bit and then head back to the ring.

What the hell is the big deal about locking someone in an ambulance anyway?

<Wrestler A gets thrown in back of ambulance by Wrestler B, back doors shut behind him>

Wrestler A: "Oh no, I'm trapped in an ambulance!"

<Wrestler A just reopens back door>

Wrestler B: "Well that worked out well..."

Yeah I mean it's not like you exactly have to beat him so damn bad to get him in there. I mean if you're stronger than him you can probably carry him. Or fight over by it and irish whip him into it and then shut the doors quickly. This isn't high concept stuff....oh wait...it works by wrestling physics......

Why couldn't they have just made it a Stretcher Match?

Jesus, I swear WWE does not know how to keep shit simple.

Maybe they didn't want two of the same gimmick in one year...*shrug*

That hasn't stopped them before!

Here's a high concept...just make it no holds barred.
