Nevermortal 0 Report post Posted October 29, 2003 Stone Cold Steve Austin came in to talk wrestling with Howard. Howard said that he looked a little out of shape this morning. Steve said that he quit wrestling and started drinking beer so he lost his physique. Howard said they have to talk about him getting married again too. Howard gave him advice about not doing that anymore but he went out and got married anyway. Steve said he's thinking of inventing a ring that dissolves after a certain amount of time since the marriages don't last all that long anyway. Robin said that Steve did the wrong thing when he just stopped showing up to the WWE wrestling events. He didn't warn them or anything. Steve said it was a little more complex than that. He said he had problems with his legs and wondered how he was going to enjoy his money if he continued going in that direction. He said he had some neck injuries in the past and didn't want to get injured anymore. Steve said he felt he wasn't holding up all that well so he had to get out of there. Steve gave Howard the whole history of what was going on at the time. Howard wondered if he was jealous of The Rock's popularity. Steve said The Rock is a good friend of his and he's not jealous. He said he wishes him all the best. Steve told Howard that the WWE guys wanted him to lose to some schlub and he didn't want to do it. He said Vince told him the scenario and he didn't want to do it. He said he told them that if they didn't change it he was going to leave. He said it would have made him look washed up if he'd done it. He said he has a say in some of that stuff. He said it all worked up to him leaving. He said the health problems and the story line weren't working for him so he was out of there. He said he was out of contact with those guys for 6 months or so. He said Jim Ross from the WWE contacted him and tried to work things out between Steve and Vince McMahon. He said about two months later he had a meeting with Vince and they worked things out. Steve said that he gets paid to just sit around drinking beer now. Howard asked him about why he got married again even after he swore he'd never do that again. He did sign a pre-nuptial agreement this time. Steve said things can still get out of hand even with the pre-nup. He said he's single again but he does have a girlfriend. Howard gave Steve a plug for his book ''The Stone Cold Truth'' and said he'll be signing copies at the Planet Hollywood in Times Square tonight. He moved on to talk to Steve about his girlfriend and what she's like for a short time. Howard and Artie brought up Goldust and goofed on him a little bit. Artie was doing his impression of him for a while. Steve told Howard that the girlfriend is living with him so Howard told him he's got it all wrong. He told Steve that he has to get her to get a job or she'll drive him nuts. Howard took some phone calls and let some people bring up some more stuff about Steve. One guy said Howard should ask Steve about being a wife beater. Howard asked him about that but Steve said he can't talk about it because there's a gag order on that subject. Howard took some more calls and heard from a guy who complained about Steve pouring beer on himself instead of drinking it on a WWE match. Steve said half of it goes in and half of it is for the entertainment part of the show. Howard took a few more phone calls and started to wrap up the interview. He gave him a couple more plugs for his book and the appearance he's making today at the Planet Hollywood. -Marksfriggin.com Wow, Lesnar's a schlub?
Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted October 29, 2003 He was at the time that match was supposed to happen.
OldSchoolWrestling 0 Report post Posted October 29, 2003 That was somewhat no holds barred. Not bad.
the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted October 29, 2003 That is retarded. I bought the idea that he didn't want to lose to Lesnar that early in such a small match. But to say he just didn't want to job to the guy they were building up as a monster is retarded. Fuck Austin.
Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted October 29, 2003 I think he has a point though. They were just going to have the match with minimal build it would've. And then you would've had Austin, Rock, Flair and Hogan put him over so the Taker can almost destory everything they built up to at Unforgiven.
the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted October 29, 2003 I agree if that was the idea. But now by saying Lesnar is a schlub, he basically says he just didn't want to job to him. Not for the small match reason, but just because he didn't want to. So that gets a Fuck Austin.
cbacon 0 Report post Posted October 29, 2003 It was more of an angle that focused on Eddy screwing him anyway. Heck, Rocky put the Hurricane over to enhance his feud with Austin.
art_vandelay 0 Report post Posted October 29, 2003 But Rock knew he was leaving the business soon anyway. He had a bigger career to fall back on. Austin didn't.
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted October 29, 2003 Austin? Lie? NOOOOOOOOO!! Remember how he said it was really about the shitty writing and that was just the final straw...and...um...he comes back to be part of the problem?
Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted October 30, 2003 Of course, he didn't mention the real reason why they wanted him to put Lesnar over which was to enhance the Austin / Guerrero feud. Fuck Austin.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted October 30, 2003 While I agree with Austin it was pointless to job to him with no hype...he still should have done it
Celtic Jobber 0 Report post Posted October 30, 2003 Did anyone listen to this interview? I find it hard to believe that Austin would call Brock a schlub. Maybe MarksFriggin.com added that into the recap...
Highland 0 Report post Posted October 30, 2003 If this was HHH saying and doing what Austin did, we'd all be calling for his head. Fuck him, he plays politics just as much as HHH or Hogan ever did. At least HHH seems to love the business, I can't say the same about Austin.
haVoc 0 Report post Posted October 30, 2003 I think Austin loves the wrestling business but he loves the fame and money just as much if not more. I saw him on "CNN Headline news" this morning plugging his new book and they asked him if he was done in the ring. He said he is but he would do one more match if he felt good, heathly, safe and if it was at WMXX and for the right amount of MONEY. They also asked him about his relationship with Vince over the years. He compaired it to Vince being the head coach and him being the quarterback. They both have different ideas on how things should be done and they do clash at times over creative and he doesn't like how Vince does certain things and Vince doesn't always like Steve's idea's. The quote he said was "I sometimes need to clean up some of Vince's ideas and Vince cleans up alot of mine."
Guest Just J Report post Posted October 30, 2003 Austin was right in what he did. Lesnar sucked then and sucks now. There was no reason for him to job to him with no build-up, I don't care what the reason was.
Guest krazykat72 Report post Posted October 30, 2003 Meltzer posted a more in depth recap on his update yesterday, in which it sounds like Austin reiterated that he had no problem doing the job to Lesnar, but he wanted that match to be properly built up and quite frankly not pissed away on a RAW. He also mentioned creative being a problem, as well as his injuries. Not to take all fault off him, but he was severely injured as he's had a whopping 2 mathces since that walkout and 1 (the Bischoff one) can hardly count. Austin/Lesnar was a match that should have been built to over a long span to a PPV main event, not a throwaway RAW match that gives it away for nothing. I also think it's clear Austin does love the wrestling business, because if he didn't, he had 2 chances to retire (97 and 99), but rehabbed like crazy and had the fusion surgery just to come back. And in regards to him loving money, well, it is a business, can you blame him for wanting to make the most of it before he's gone for good? -Paul Jacobi-
Guest Boo_Bradley Report post Posted October 30, 2003 Based on what Austin said on Sharon Osborne's show this morning, I wouldn't be surprised to see Y2J vs Austin at XX Oh yeah he managed to go on air for 15 mins with only mentioning Vince and the Rock and no other wrestler
Guest Choken One Report post Posted October 30, 2003 Well what's the big deal about that? You want him to be in Kayfabe or something? Although Austin going "C'mon shannon you cancerous Bag hit me! I'm begging you HIT ME! You or that little mutt of yours HIT ME!" Would be good.
