Colonel to be court martialed for...

Recommended Posts

Yeah, it would've been a lot better had he given the Iraqi a big hug and let his men get killed.  That would've been much more preferable to scaring the guy and saving his men's lives

He did something that, according to his job, he's not supposed to do. However, it had a positive effect in the big picture. They will probably give him a virtual slap on the wrist due to the circumstances, and I'll agree with that. But that doesn't mean it was suddently alright for him to do.

Extenuating circumstances. He was justified and downright morally and ethically right in his actions.

Hell, I'd probably give the guy a pass even if he had chosen to kneecap the guy.

Would you think the same way if a loved one of yours was in the group targeted for the ambush this Colonel foiled?...

Well, at first I was going to sarcastically respond "Well, I'm just all in tears over that Iraqi's civil rights."

Here's another quote you may wish to sarcastically respond to:

When asked if there was room for forgiveness over terrorists who wish to destroy us, Norman Schwarzkopf said: "I believe that forgiving them is God's function. Our job is simply to arrange the meeting." Now I must say that is highly insensitive, sure to piss off many enlightened individuals out there.

The guy West interrogated was indeed a terrorist who was part of plot to kill American soldiers and he had participated in previous attacks.

Nope, I have NO problem whatsoever with it.

If you're a terrorist, WE cannot forgive or trust you. Leave the forgiveness to God.

His "punishment" can be as simple and insignificant as asking him to leave a penny on the way out the door. I just don't want it to be completely erased away from history because of the positives. The government does that often enough already.

You want me to say it? Fine. I applaud this guy for going out of bounds. But that doesn't mean he didn't go out of bounds.

Don't really care what you say (not a vicious partisan attack, mind you, just that you have your opinions and I have mine).

Man, if we had this media coverage during WWII we would all probably be speaking German now...
