Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted November 4, 2003 WWE.com has Show/Lesnar vs Benoit/Angle down for Smackdown, as well as Eddy Guerrero taking on the Bashams by himself for the Tag Championships. Expect Eddy to loose this one and Chavo to come down the ring, berate Eddy and probably turn. On a related note, the poll on WWE.com is whether or not Farooq can make it to S.S w/ his "broken ankle" so expect Cena to be the replacement (as if you hadn't already figured out). So, tag match booking says that Benoit vs Lesnar gets established at some point in this match. Benoit get a tapout? Maybe. Brock should C2W at S.S to further the feud and it makes Benoit look like a very feared guy.
Guest Mulatto Heat Report post Posted November 4, 2003 The main event will not be without a run-in, I expect. If the heels are winning it's because the newcomers interfere. If the faces win it's due to Cena making his official (read: lazy and pointless) turn. That's my official prediction. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong.
Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted November 4, 2003 The sad thing is Show/Lesnar need a win pretty bad. You can't have the champ lose 3 weeks in a row. I think it's safe to say they've blown it with Eddie.
Silence 0 Report post Posted November 4, 2003 WWE's unfortunately having Eddie to be in the Jericho 2000-2001 role when he'd float about between feuding with someone over the secondary title and having pointless low mid-card feuds that just drag him down. King Cucaracha 0 Report post Posted November 4, 2003 No no no no F'n NO! The moment they turn Cena heel, he'll flop. The character is built on the heelish rapper who insults towns and people. If he turns face, Cena'll be screwed. Austin managed to be a face while acting heelish...that was a fluke. Cena's screwed basically. Plus, this means A-Train'll probably be the 5th man on Team Hoss. Which of course means when he turns face his first opponent will be the great A-Train. And as a face, he'll be getting the crowd to chant "shave your back". He's about to get cut off at the balls. He'll be Men on a Mission version 2k3.
Guest NCJ Report post Posted November 4, 2003 Sorry to tell yall, but Cena has the charisma to get over as a face. They would have had to do it eventually anyway. Cena is going to be like Rock in that he can get heat as a heel and love as a face.
Guest Mulatto Heat Report post Posted November 4, 2003 So you'd turn Cena face for a match where it's not about putting him over, it's more about someone else (or in this case, several others)? And when he turns face to feud with A-Train, I'm going to ask - was it WORTH IT?
Jebus 0 Report post Posted November 4, 2003 I went to the Montreal house show last Sunday (nov. 2nd) and Cena was the biggest face there! Fucking deafening pop with Benoit and Angle a distant 2nd and 3rd. "Cena" chants all night. When Show and Lesnar were doing a beatdown on Taker after the main event, people chanted for Cena, they got Bradshaw, Benoit and Angle doing the save...the crowd kept chanting for Cena! Word Life shirts selling out fast! Let me tell you, I doubted a Cena face turn as well, but after last Sunday, I think the only way this turn will fail is because of the creative team and their heat sucking shit angles
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted November 4, 2003 It would be better to slow-burn the face turn. As in, not until after Suvivor Series. Have Cena be the black sheep of Team Angle - then on the post SS smackdown, have him come out to save a face from a beat down and start a feud with a heel. Of course, they'll just do it tonight and job him out in the tag match... but whatever. (What they SHOULD do is hint that Cena will save Benoit and Angle, but then have him not... it will be the teamwork and sacrifice he learned at SurvivorSeries that will show him the way to stand-up for what you believe in.) cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted November 4, 2003 I actually think Eddie has to win this handicapped match tonight if for no other reason than to prolong this feud till Series when of course the Guerreros lose and Chavo turns heel.
Guest Dids Report post Posted November 4, 2003 Just because he gets pops doesn't mean he has to start playing a face? He's over doing what he's doing- let him stay over. Instead if he turns face- he's going to stop doing the things that get him over in the first place. The only way this works is if he's the exact same guy- but just fights against heels. I like the notions that says there aren't faces and heels in a promotions. There's a face and a heel in a match, or in a fued- but that doesn't mean somebody has to be the same way every time. LivingLegendGaryColeman 0 Report post Posted November 4, 2003 Everyone needs to stop getting worked up about this match and see it for it's real cause and rejoice. To reintroduce everyone to Hardcore Holly.
cbacon 0 Report post Posted November 5, 2003 Cena is apparantly facing Rey Mysterio tonight (wwe.com). So I guess no face turn tonight
Guest JRE Report post Posted November 5, 2003 Well....Cena obviously won't be a clear-cut babyface. He's got that "Stone Cold 96 Face" thing going. I'm not thinking it'll matter who Cena's fighting for him to get cheers
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted November 5, 2003 The thing with Austin was that though he was the "badass" and whatnot, he always ended up doing the "right thing".
Guest JRE Report post Posted November 5, 2003 Which, has little to do with match booking. Say Cena fights Rey....the match ends with Rey being attacked by Tajiri and Co. Cena fights off Tajiri and Co when they beatdown Rey.

I agree completely with this. Cena's face turn should be gradual. He shouldn't start saving the faces yet, but he shouldn't rub elbows with the heels still. A good example of that would be when Austin/Michaels won the tag titles. Austin thought about saving Michaels from the post-match beatdown, but just left and went after his opponent. Cena should play the impartial tweener that attacks whomever he pleases. Like RRR said, he should be the black sheep of the babyface team. He could do his part to defeat the heels, but not sacrifice himself for the good of the team, until he sees Benoit and Angle do it, then begins to turn face gradually. Art Sandusky 0 Report post Posted November 5, 2003 Just quietly have Cena facing heels instead of faces over time, and keep the act the same. Once he starts rapping like a face would (complete with dumb insults of the heel wrestler, ie. "Shave yoru back" crap), it's all over.
