Swift Terror Posted November 7, 2003 Report Posted November 7, 2003 From IMDB: Illusionist David Blaine is already planning his next stunt after spending 44 days encased in a box above London's River Thames - he'll be 'diving to death' from a helicopter. Blaine came up with the idea in a bid to try and keep his mind sharp during his fast, and he reveals the death-defying leap will be terrifying. He says, "The whole time I was in that box I wrote down a whole list of what I need to do and the next thing I'm going to do is a crazy one. It has to do with a helicopter and me falling from a helicopter into a river, and it's called Dive Of Death, and it's going to be from such a tremendous height that there's only a couple of people who have lived from that height, falling into water - because when you fall at that height it's like hitting pavement. There will be no dummy. I'm going to learn how to hit water from a tremendous height, not the full height, but like 110 feet. It can be done but it can go terribly wrong, like everything I do." Could Blaine end up being the next Darwin Award winner? Will the video of this end up in a Faces of Death compilation? I certainly hope so...
welshjerichomark Posted November 7, 2003 Report Posted November 7, 2003 I bought a David Blaine doll yesterday. Sadly i couldn't get it out of the box.
Guest Smell the ratings!!! Posted November 7, 2003 Report Posted November 7, 2003 heyoooooooooooooo! I don't understand how people root against a guy who is consistantly trying to kill himself. How do you get pissed at a guy for taking a hundred foot swan dive out of a helicopter?
CanadianChris Posted November 7, 2003 Report Posted November 7, 2003 Well, because he keeps trying to kill himself, but always falls short. You can only put up with that kind of ineptitude for so long before you get pissed at the guy.
King Cucaracha Posted November 7, 2003 Report Posted November 7, 2003 "The whole time I was in that box I wrote down a whole list of what I need to do..." Wait...he had writing utensils in the box? OMG IT WAS A HOAX!!! Back on topic...kind of...Blaine should have just stuck to street magic. That stuff was enjoyable. The endless stream of pointless stunts are just boring and deeply open to ridicule.

I agree, the magic stuff was cool...like the Cab going by with shit written on it that meant something to a random person. Watching him freeze in some ice was just stupid
Nighthawk Posted November 7, 2003 Report Posted November 7, 2003 I never see anything about David Blaine unless I go looking. What he should do is a stunt where he lets anyone that wants to punch him. 1) Houdini did it. (it didn't really kill him, despite popular myth) 2) Apparently people hate him, so there would be interest in seeing it. 3) It would be more entertaining than being frozen.
eiker_ir Posted November 8, 2003 Report Posted November 8, 2003 yeah he should've stick with the street magic thing, that was kinda cool. It made you think "wow how the hell did he did that?" now it's just "oooooooh he jumped like....from really high" not as fun
