Guest Anglesault Report post Posted November 10, 2003 I find the whole thing a bit shifty when you have one kid saying that he knows some kids sell drugs and the search turns up nothing. Weeks said he was "kind of nervous," but not scared "because I didn't have anything to hide." He said there are a lot of drugs in the school, but that this sort of raid was unnecessary. "There is certain people that you know sell drugs," he said. "They could have just searched those people." So I'm thinking these kids knew it was coming and at least had the discipline to get rid of it before the raid hit home. Plus the idea that they would find NOTHING sends up a whole lot more warning signals than if they would have found a roach or two. A high school with no drugs is a statistical impossibility and I think most of us know that. Who cares if the cops found something, that still is really no excuse. What would have satissfied the principal, if a student or two had a joint on them? No way in hell was this raid worth the waste of time. It is fucking unbelievable that Police unsheathed weapons in a school in a non life or death scenario. It's already unbelievable that we have DEA agents shooting children. Jingus 0 Report post Posted November 11, 2003 On the whole "the drug dealers were tipped off and got rid of their stuff" argument: How in the world could every single drug-possessing kid in school have been warned about it in time, and perfectly got rid off all their stash, with no remaining evidence? Now I understand if someone is accused of having a gun, because that is life-threatening and demands immediate action, but drugs? what kind of drugs, how much, how many students!?! Imagine being a KID and having this shit happen. It's not something that can be waved off as "oh well, at least now they won't be bringing drugs to school," ESPECIALLY when there's not one shred of evidence stated that says drugs were there in the first place. Even then, why not just keep the kids in class, and have the cops take a drug dog around all the lockers. That's what they did at my school from time to time, almost always yielding nothing. Why, you ask? Because most kids are actually smart enough to not bring drugs to school. Sure, they might still be doing them, but unless it's AT school, it is none of the school's fucking business. Ultimo Dugas 0 Report post Posted November 12, 2003 I live around the area, as a matter of fact I took my SAT's there, and I am damn surprised they didn't find any drugs. I still don't really think that the "scare-tactics" were nessacery though, because I don't think it will cause any of the actually dealers to stop.
