Lord of The Curry

BIG Return of the King News aka Curry not happy

I disagree. I don't think Sauron needs to be shown at all. Sure, he had a body in the prelude, but it exploded, remember?

Now he is a deathless spirit, a lidless eye that watches all and moves his forces around like a game of chess. The Nazgul are his hands, and he commands them. They carry his will and his fear wherever they go.

Again, in the book ROTK Sauron IS NOT an eye or a spirit. He is mentioned as having a body (Gollum mentions his 9 fingers, the 1 chopped off by Isildur).

Let's face it, The Two Towers were run by Sauron and Saruman...if neither one of them is even shown in the ROTK then I think a lot of people will take a crap all over it. It defies the logic of "You go through the secondary lackey heels and get to the boss."

Quentin Tarantino obviously understands this concept, since Uma Thurman will go through more lackey heels in Kill Bill 2 in order to get to Bill. Bill is quite a bit similar to Sauron really, a creepy unseen force who isn't technically shown (though Bill speaks).

Face it, the vast majority of moviegoers will go in instinctively expecting Sauron and/or Saruman to be in the movie. It's impossible to not show EITHER in the movie, otherwise you're just left with a bunch of secondary heels like Mouth of Sauron or Witch King getting their orders from.....nobody.

Except there lies the problem.

In Sauron's case, him showing up would be almost forcing the characters to commit suicide. There's no other way to kill him than the way they wind up actually doing it..

If nobody but Gandalf could stand against the Balrog, what chance would they have against the Dark Lord himself?
