People call for bannings all the time. Do you honestly think somebody on this board would phone up your paper and say "This guy who works for you called Dave O'Neill, I think you ought to sack him becaus he posts on this message board, and he misspells words sometimes and we don't like him"

 

More than that, do you really think that the editor of this paper would reply "Well, we've never had any problem with him, and his work's up to scratch but if you say we should sack him, mysterious stranger who neither I nor Dave have ever met, then I'll do it!"

Ok, here we go.

 

First of all, I ouhgta admit that even though I'm only a freelancer, I havent written for the paper in two months, and therefore, i might aswell be unemployed.

 

I DID, write for the Sunday Tribune, which, as a regular feature, has a column written by a guy called Ross O'Carroll Kelly. Who, btw, is a FICTIONAL CHARCTER. Anyway, ROCK is a pisstake of young upper-class Dubliners who spend all theyre time in swanky nightclubs like Anabels (waitaminute, i was there at the weekend), playing rugby and speaking like "Roysh, well you can just Fock Off, roysh now".

 

Despite ROCK being FICTIONAL, the paper gets inundated with complaints everyweek, usually because of a joke about Knackers from the other side of Dublin.

 

My point being, If people will complain about a fictional character, I wouldnt put it past some people complaining about opinions i've written about elsewhere

From what you've said, that piece got complaints for being what some people might deem offensive (not me, I know the type of people you mean). Any good satire will get complaints.

 

There is, however, a difference between people writing in to a newspaper to complain about a piece you've written and people on te internet trying to sabotage your job. The main difference being that the complaints people have against you here have nothing to do with your work.

1) I'm not an apologist and I dislike you. Partly because you've come up with a term for the people who dislike you, which is really not a good sign.

 

2) I wasn't calling for your banning, nor overly pushing you for information you didn't want to divulge, merely pointing out that your reason for not saying what paper you worked for was moronic.
