Looks like Barry's a little pissed that he won't be able to juice up anymore

So they don't own his likeness. Yet, eventhough he didn't sign he is still part of the union which is fucking retarded. Bonds screws over the players and isn't even booted from the union?!? It makes me laugh, though. This was the year that he was finally starting to be seen like an actual, decent human (not by me, but most people) and then he pulls this.

If I remember correctly, Lavar Arrington sorta did the same thing (he didn't join the NFL Players Association or something of the like) and you couldn't draft him in Yahoo leagues that play IDP. Im sure videogame companies will pay the money for his likeness. Theres really only 3 Microsoft (who bought the rights to High Heat Baseball), EA Sports and Accliam. But it sorta reminds me of when Jordan was never really in games because companies wouldn't pay him for his likeness. Sports Video games are a much bigger business now though.

He's only doing this because he expects to break the all-time homer record in several years. Speaking of which, after he's busted (and he WILL be, too many people dislike him to cover up the test results), they shouldn't do that asterisk next to the guy's name thing, they should strip him of all of the records he held and take him off of all-time lists. Show these players that they can't do that shit.

The union didn't look at him in a "he's an asshole" light, when he did such. Quick question: Does the MLBPA, or any other sports league, have a say in games not sponsored by them? (Charles Barkley: Shut Up And Jam, Sammy Sosa Baseball, etc.). He's an asshole for other things he's done in his career - but certainly not in this instance.

Bonds informed the union that he would not be signing the organization's group licensing agreement next year and would instead pursue licensing opportunities on his own. Players usually sign the group licensing agreement, which allows companies that obtain MLBPA licenses the right to use players' names and likenesses on their products. In exchange for their rights, the players get a percentage of the sale of the products such as trading cards and video games. The signing of the agreement is usually a formality. In fact, Bonds will become the first union member in the 30-year history of the licensing program not to sign it, said Judy Heeter, director of business affairs and licensing for the MLBPA. Eric Levin, president of Pro Access Inc., which does the marketing for Bonds, declined comment. Bonds' decision will have immediate repercussions for baseball fans, who will no longer be able to purchase official Giants jerseys with the slugger's name on the back. Bonds can sell his licensing rights individually, but he will not be able to appear in MLBPA licensed products, including trading cards and video games. Heeter said Bonds can appear separately in card sets, if companies work out deals with him. "Barry, don't do this! Please, come back!" begged Bill Dully, president of Donruss trading cards. Dully says Bonds' decision not to participate in the group licensing agreement will make it very hard for card companies to capitalize on his closing in on the all-time home run crown. While Bonds is the first player to do this in baseball, the move is not unprecedented. Michael Jordan was not part of the NBA Players Association's group licensing agreement, and Washington Redskins linebacker Lavar Arrington has not signed the NFL Players Association's group licensing agreement. Heeter said she is not concerned that other MLB players will follow Bonds' lead. "I believe this situation is unique," said Heeter. "For the licensees, we provide them a one-stop shop for securing the rights to the players which would otherwise be impossible to obtain independently. For the players, we provide them with the personnel to market and protect their rights."

O'Neal wasn't in either of the first two editions of Jam - the original and "tournament edition".

What will end up happening is he'll sign some exclusive contract meaning his merchandise will decrease, and like kids who collect baseball cards won't have as many chances to pull a Barry Bonds. Granted, I shed no tear for the baseball card people. Fucking disgrace what they have done to the hobby. But there are still some kids out there who are into it and who enjoy it.
