Mole Posted November 18, 2003 Report Posted November 18, 2003 I didn't see a thread for this yet, so I thought I should start one. As of right now, UConn is number 1 in men and women. The women's team should be number 1, but not the men. They are defiently overrated, even though they are my favorite team. All they really have is Gordon and Okafor, and that's about it. Calhoun is a great coach but that won't do it for them. Granted, the polls mean NOTHING now. It all matters once Feb comes around, then into March.
Guest Flyboy Posted November 18, 2003 Report Posted November 18, 2003 Wait, wait, wait. UCONN's women's basketball team is NOT ranked #1?!
alfdogg Posted November 18, 2003 Report Posted November 18, 2003 I almost never watch college basketball except for the tournament, and even then, I don't know shit as to where guys will be going in the draft, or if some of them even are. I was bummed that not a single Indiana Hoosier went in the draft this year. Of course, Hoosiers have never really had their college success carry over to the NBA, with notable exceptions being Isiah Thomas and Walt Bellamy. As of right now, who would be some of the top guys that would be taken in the draft if they go?
Guest Flyboy Posted November 18, 2003 Report Posted November 18, 2003 No, both UConn teams are #1. Goddamnit, CC, I'm starting to love you more and more.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted November 18, 2003 Report Posted November 18, 2003 A one and only thread for both men AND womens college basketball? For the love of god will someone stop this madness???
Guest Flyboy Posted November 18, 2003 Report Posted November 18, 2003 A one and only thread for both men AND womens college basketball? For the love of god will someone stop this madness??? Don't try to make any sense of it, al. Don't even try.
Mole Posted November 18, 2003 Author Report Posted November 18, 2003 Well there aren't too many women basketball fans, so I put both together. Plus UConn is number 1 in both, so that rules.
Bored Posted November 18, 2003 Report Posted November 18, 2003 A one and only thread for both men AND womens college basketball? For the love of god will someone stop this madness??? Yes what's the point of even having a women's thread?
Guest Choken One Posted November 18, 2003 Report Posted November 18, 2003 does UCONN still have that hottie Diana Taurasi?
Mole Posted November 18, 2003 Author Report Posted November 18, 2003 The best, but ugliest, women's basketball player there is?
fazzle Posted November 18, 2003 Report Posted November 18, 2003 Ugh, I'm not looking forward to this season. UNCW is gonna collapse without Brett Blizzard.
Vern Gagne Posted November 18, 2003 Report Posted November 18, 2003 He's finally gone? Who supposed to be the best in the Big 10?
lomasmoney Posted November 18, 2003 Report Posted November 18, 2003 ive seen much uglier girls who play ball than diana turasi

We shouldn't even have a OaO thread for mens' basketball. A thread for an entire season? It's so utterly stupid as to defy words. No offense, but the way we use OaO threads is getting WAY out of hand.

Gert T Posted November 18, 2003 Report Posted November 18, 2003 He's finally gone? Who supposed to be the best in the Big 10? I think it'll be Michigan State or Illinois.
Gert T Posted November 22, 2003 Report Posted November 22, 2003 Dayton with a big W to open the year at Pepperdine. Hope they show up in Hawaii, they'll be some quality teams there.
fazzle Posted November 22, 2003 Report Posted November 22, 2003 UNCW wins their season opener, 65-56 over Marshall.

There's one for college football.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted November 22, 2003 Report Posted November 22, 2003 Yeah, and that's really stupid as well.
Mole Posted November 24, 2003 Author Report Posted November 24, 2003 If you don't like it, then don't post.
Bored Posted November 24, 2003 Report Posted November 24, 2003 Division II Chaminade upset Villanova in the Maui Invitational today. Its their first win in their tournament in 11 years. For the youngin's out there Chaminade is infamous for pulling off probably the greatest upset in college basketball history back in 1982 when they knocked off #1 Virginia led by Ralph Sampson. If your too young to even know who Ralph Sampson was then this probably means nothing to you.
Guest Flyboy Posted November 24, 2003 Report Posted November 24, 2003 Division II Chaminade upset Villanova in the Maui Invitational today. I saw the 2nd half of that game and it was pretty awesome.
Slayer Posted November 27, 2003 Report Posted November 27, 2003 The SI curse once again rears it's ugly head as the UConn men fall to G-Tech last night
Guest Jimbo Posted November 30, 2003 Report Posted November 30, 2003 ...but they pasted Utah last night. They might not be best team in the country it seems, but they're pretty friggin' close.
Guest Redhawk Posted November 30, 2003 Report Posted November 30, 2003 The polls are so worthless in college basketball. Going into the NCAA tourney, it doesn't matter if you're ranked 1, 2, 3 or 4....you're going to get a No. 1 seed; which is all that really matters. All the polls do is give TV stations numbers to put in front of teams in order to hype matchups even more.
Bored Posted December 7, 2003 Report Posted December 7, 2003 (edited) No one will care but...Stanford beat #1 Kansas 64-58 today! It always amazes me how good of a team Mike Montgomery is able to put together every year. They didn't even have probably their best player in Josh Childress today as he's injured.
