Guest O.J. Hart Posted November 18, 2003 Report Posted November 18, 2003 Just wanna know if any of you are in any drumlines. I'm in my high school's and i play snare. If any of you would like to discuss drumming in this thread, feel free to do so.
Guest O.J. Hart Posted November 19, 2003 Report Posted November 19, 2003 DON'T EVEN START THAT! In my marching band, the trumpets are ALL uber gay about the drummers. and they piss us off. So please don't start shit like that, because I don't feel like starting a riva;ry with somebody.
The Metal Maniac Posted November 19, 2003 Report Posted November 19, 2003 Ah, trumpets. I recall one day this one trumpet guy claimed that he could do anything I could do. So I grabbed myself a snare and got him some sticks. I started with a few basic rhythms, and he followed that just fine. Then I did a drum roll. He gave me this "you fucking bastard" look and walked away. Good times.
Red Hot Thumbtack In The Eye Posted November 19, 2003 Report Posted November 19, 2003 Thrash drumming is where it's at. Metal drumming > drumline.
The Metal Maniac Posted November 20, 2003 Report Posted November 20, 2003 Thumbtack makes a strong case. See, this is why I need a double-kick, stat.

Sure you can do some impressive things with a stick in your hand, but we're damaging ourselves to do even more impressive things. So OJ, do you follow drum and bugle corps? If so you better be a Cavaliers fan. Glassmen fan and you're going down.
Guest O.J. Hart Posted November 20, 2003 Report Posted November 20, 2003 Yes, I'm very into DCI stuff man. I'm good friends with some people from the project(if you've heard of them). They finished 5th at DCI finals last year. Plus...two of our instructors play for them. One of them, Paul, plays marches on snare for them. The other, Andy, was in the snare line to start the year, but was witched to tenors.

Which corps did they march with? I'm trying to think of who finished 5th last year. I want to say SCV or Boston Crusaders.
A Happy Medium Posted November 21, 2003 Report Posted November 21, 2003 I dabbled in drumming back in Junior High, but didn't go very far. And also, not to be a dick or nothing...but I swear that every kid who was in the drumline back in school was a complete douchebag. They had this stupid mindset like they were going through tougher training and practicing than Navy SEALS.
The Czech Republic Posted November 21, 2003 Report Posted November 21, 2003 Jazz band > drum lines. True that. I like my drum corps from late June to early August, but other than that I'm all about the jazz. Did I ever mention that I've performed alongside Maynard Ferguson?

The activity as a whole? -------> the project: www.projectpercussion.com This will likely fill you in on them. They are a line that originated in south western Pennyslvania by the way.
