Are they as good as ESPN says they are? I mean Marvin Lewis has done a terrific job turning the team around but C'mon they still are the Bungles err Bengals. Are they good enough to be be above .500? Yes. Are they going to win their divsion like Sean Salisbury (sp) says? Not likely. This team has a good young core (the Johnsons and Warrick) but winning their division is unlikely. They will beat San Diego to be 6-5 but I envision a 7-9 finish to 9-7 finish. But who knows? The AFC North is really crappy this year maybe 8-8 will win the divison. But the Bengals in the playoffs? Not this year Sean.

What do you think?

They are going to win their division due to the Ravens being their competition.

I haven't seen any of their games, but they obviously have a potent offense with a solid-great running game and two weapons at WR with the emergence of Warrick.

I don't think they are going to be Super Bowl competitors or anything, but they are playing like a team that will mess up someone's playoffs.

Look at who Cincy has in line

San Diego

Pittsburgh

Baltimore

Cleveland

San Fran

St. Louis

They can easily go 8-8 and I think they shown they can beat a good team so that makes St. Louis a playable game.

Baltimore has ZERO offense and won't go anywhere.

I still have hope in the Ravens..I think the offense has pissed off the defense enough to spark something.

Ravens:

Winable games: Oakland (Oakland stinks) ,@Cleveland (already beat them once this year)

Games they'll lose: Seattle (bad feeling about the game as well..)

Iffy: San Francisco (its a home game vs a West Coast team so it could be interesting) Bengals (game is at home), Steelers (they never play the Steelers well it seems but the Steelers are a worse team than they were in week 1)

Bengals:

Winable games: @San Diego, @ Pittsburgh, Cleveland

Games they'll lose: @ St. Louis, San Fran

Iffy Game: @Baltimore

It all comes down to 3 weeks from now when they play each other in Baltimore. The Ravens also need to beat either the 49ers or the Steelers (preferably both..)

well They got screwed by the refs a thousand times over.

Sorry about that. I never meant to edit your post.

LOL..didnt the Cards beat the Packers? The Cards 3 wins have been vs teams with winning records..

.500 records. Green Bay & San Fran will be interesting this week. Green Bay probably has a better shot at the playoffs even if they lose. San Fran has St. Louis & Seattle in front of them. Green Bay only has the Vikings, who have been the worst team in the league the past few weeks.

The defense is ify but not terrible. The offense is great with a back that can run for a 100+ yds. a game and 2 receivers who are playing like a no.1 receiver on any other team in the NFL. They also have a QB that makes good decisions for the most part and a backup that's going to hopefully be their franchise player. They are probably the best coached team in the NFL right now.

If the refs had done their jobs a few weeks ago you'd be looking at a 6-4 team. They could easily sweep the remaining division games and can potentially beat any of the remaining teams. Also remember that during the early weeks they were still finding themselves and it was really a matter of getting that first win to send them in the right direction.

The Ravens are screwed basically. They could hold every team they face to 10 pts. for the rest of the season and probably win 1 or 2 games if they're lucky. They don't have a competent QB and the offense depends entirely on Jamal Lewis. If he goes down this team won't score another TD all season.

Worse then San Diego?

San Diego won a game.

Minnesota won more games.

Yeah but San Diego destroyed Minnesota in that game with a huge day on offense and then proceeded to gain less than 100 yds. against an average Denver defense.

Even if the Bengals don't go to the playoffs this year, and as of right now I think they will, Cincy is going to be one of the better teams in the near future.

What really impressed me with Lewis was when the Steelers burned them on a fake FG. After CBS showed the replay of his reaction he just had this look like "yeah, you got us this time" but didn't get worked up over it.

Don't know why, but this image stuck with me...

I dunno how good the Bengals are or how good they're going to be...

But I do know it's been a very long time since I've heard anyone dare call them "the bungles" so, take that for what it's worth.

Its funny because a lot of people that listen to the Bengals on the radio would always be pissed at Marvin's press conferences because of his positiveness and laughing, and the radio guys would always guarantee that he was pissed but would not show it to the public.

I've been to all six home games and seen ever road game but the Browns game. It will come down to the next three weeks, if they can win two out of three on the road, they will make the playoffs.

They were only beaten handily in one game (vs. Broncos), and even though they were dominated by the Steelers & Cardinals they lost by 7 and 3 points, so one break can change the result.

And I realize that because only the KC & Pittsburgh game have been sold out at PBS, many have not seen Bengals games, but whoever said the Bengals have no chance against the Niners at home is a damn fool. The Bengals may have a better record going into that game anyway.

Oh well, they gotta win on the road against San Diego until this is more than a moot point.

I think Cincinnati could beat St. Louis. St. Louis had to really fight to beat CHICAGO BEARS last sunday.

They struggled with the Ravens as well and have trouble with San Fran and Seattle. They are probably the most overrated team in the league right now. Come playoff time, they're dead. Especially if they have to go on the road.

Marc Bulger still hasn't lost a home game which he started in St. Louis. The Bengals play the Rams in St. Louis, which is why I figure it to be a loss, since the Rams play better at home on their turf.

If the game was in Cincy I'd say the Bengals would at least have a shot.

Looking at the rest of their schedule the Bengals have a definite chance to win thier division, though i don't trust any AFC North team to end up any better than 8-8 or 9-7. Whoever wins the division will likely just end up as fodder for either the Titans or Colts though, whichever one ends up the top wildcard team.

You would think so, but look at the Ravens/Rams game from a couple of weeks ago.
