Slickster 0 Report post Posted November 24, 2003 With even lower ratings under Russo's proposed format, instead of reverting to the micro-fed, (presumably because the set had been destroyed) Saturday Night was shifted to Saturday Morning where it was essentially taken out back and shot. Please explain.

Sadly, you have the intellectual capacity of oatmeal. Just when I thought you couldn't possibly be any LESS intelligent, Czech, you take another vicious shot to the head and shave off a few more IQ points. Kudos, as always, go to you. And, I never said Roadblock didn't exist. I said his matches with Luger that produced SO MUCH CROWD HEAT never happened. I don't doubt they worked together --- though it IS a little odd, considering that Roadblock was a total JTTS in the WWF --- but I doubt the crowd cared. But, hey, don't let not knowing a thing slow you down now, Czech. You haven't done that up to this point. -=Mike

Given that I was only told a little bit of information of what you sort of said, and that you yourself have a track record of making comments that are looked down on by the general crowd, probably more than I have, truth be told, I just made one stupid comment and here you are comparing me to oatmeal. Yeah that's right--oatmeal. I think saying that I've never known a thing in my life is a bit out there. I mean, scroll up! I just recited a list of obscure WCW midcarders! That has to account for something! Oatmeal. Pshaw. More like the intellectual capacity of the Quaker Oats Man, because I'm sure he was one smart cookie. One smart oatmealcookie, that is. And next time you're going to make an overblown flaming attempt, take it to NHB. (I won't call it that other name.) What you said was most certainly not keepin' it old-school. The Czech Republic 0 Report post Posted November 25, 2003 Oh and by the way I'm presuming they destroyed the WCWSN set after being told that they were no longer taping live segments. So all that plexiglass, curtains, and whatever else comprised it (it was a decent set) is probably all dismantled in some metropolitan Atlanta warehouse. The Czech Republic 0 Report post Posted November 25, 2003 You flame me and I will hit back. -=Mike If so, then you hit like a girl. "Shut up, oatmeal-for-brains!" How's about we just write this whole thing off and pretend it never happened. Since this is in Old School, we're halfway there already.

Don't buy Luger --- an upper-carder at worst for his entire WWF run --- facing a total JTTS in a match with oodles of crowd heat. But, as usual, you ignorant little twit, you say that I doubt the existance of Roadblock --- a crap wrestler who I have seen --- and not the matches that you claim drew so much crowd heat back in the day. -=Mike
Placebo Effect 0 Report post Posted November 26, 2003 I'll throw in my three cents. They tried making a woman's cruiserwt belt and seeing nameless scrawny japanese woman wrestle each other didn't do it for most people Though NWO Saturday night was quite good Nash on commentary...black and white...insider comments....horrid matches The Woman's Cruiserweight Belt was actually a WCW Pro/Worldwide thing. I don't know if the belt EVER even got defended after it was won and quickly forgotten. NWO Saturday Night rocked. I still have a tape of all the episodes lying around. Empty arena, Nash doing commentary on his tag matches from the apron, Pat Tanaka coming out to Goldberg's music, and Nash, Syxx, and DiBiase ripping everything to shreds. It also allowed the WCW production guys to have themselves some fun, as they did genius work with some of that shit. For example, when the jobber would begin to get offense, they'd blur out the picture, cut to black, etc. As far as Russo goes, his whole thing was that he thought WCW Saturday Night was a horrible show that purported a bad image of WCW. His basic quote was "If I was a WWF fan who stumbled upon WCW SN, why in the hell would I want to watch Nitro or Thunder?" Saturday Night, by the way, was getting really odd around this time. They had Duggan going at with Regal (in a Loser Leaves WCW match), Fiddel Sierra (Flag Match!), Robert Gibson, and other scrubs while the younger guys hardly ever got angles off the ground. I do, however, fondly remember Hale (Hale Alert!) and the very brief Alan Funk/Barry Horowitz feud. And if anyone got to see the last episode of WCW Worldwide, which was actually the last WCW show to ever air, it was touching in an odd way. It was obviously done without the supervision of WWE (likely taped the weekend WCW was announced as being purchased, prior to WWE coming in), as they got a nice goodbye and actual credits to end the show instead of the shit they gave us the next Monday night. And by the way, Devon Storm vs. Chris Benoit on Saturday Night = Awesome.

And by the way, Devon Storm vs. Chris Benoit on Saturday Night = Awesome. The [Pro]!!!! That was like WCWSN to a higher (lower?) level. And the ring spun on a turntable! Gotta love that. I think the belt went overseas and was never spoken of again. So Saturday Night gave a horrible image of WCW, and Thunder DIDN'T? Come on. My friend has a tape from 1999 where Scott Hudson says during a match, "fans, you'll want to tape these Saturday Nights around now, because years from now you'll find them and see the stars of tomorrow when they first started out." SN Alumni from that show: Jamie Knoble, Chuck Palumbo, Mark Jindrak the VCBP, Sean O'Haire, Shannon Moore, A.J. Styles, and others.

JJMc 0 Report post Posted November 28, 2003 The Women's cruiser belt was created (I believe) because the Women's champ, Akira Hokuto, was based in Japan and never defended the damn thing for WCW. Consequently, they made the Cruiser belt, defended primarily for GAEA (also in JAPAN!). WTF?!
