LucharesuFan619 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2003 Today, class, we're going to learn about the formation of "if/then" statements. Let's start with a simple example - IF you call yourself a pro wrestling fan, you're in the area, you don't have somewhere else really important to be or something else really important to do at the same time, and you don't attend this show... THEN, you are a jackass. How's that for a lesson, kids? Without further ado... USA PRO WRESTLING PRESENTS "END OF AN ERA" SAT 11/29/2003 USA Pro celebrates the closing of the infamous "Madhouse of Extreme" (Queens, NY): In early 1997, "The Franchise" Shane Douglas, "The Beast from the East" Bam Bam Bigelow, and "No Gimmicks Needed" Chris Candido decided to form a now infamous stable in wrestling, "The Triple Threat". At Heatwave 1997, Candido and Bigelow scored a big victory as a team. At the Elks Lodge, the very place that will host its last professional wrestling show on November 29th, Triple Threat members Bam Bam Bigelow and Shane Douglas did battle for the ECW Championship. On that night, October 16, 1997, Bigelow won the title. At Cyberslam 1998, Douglas and Bigelow scored a huge victory over Sabu and current WWE Superstar Rob Van Dam. In February 1998, Tammy Lynn Sytch arrived in ECW, and associated herself with the Triple Threat. She remained with the Triple Threat until January 1999, when Candido and herself turned on Shane Douglas, and thus ended the Triple Threat. Shane Douglas entered World Championship Wrestling on July 12, 1999 after signing a three year contract and not too long after that, Douglas, Bigelow, and Candido formed a group once again. That time it was short lived. After teasing a come back as a group at a QWA Show last year, Douglas, Bigelow, Candido, and Sytch are ready to come back in full force. Starting November 29th as USA Pro Wrestling presents End of an Era at the Elks Lodge, a new era will begin for the Triple Threat. Just Added: Low Ki will return to the Elks Lodge at "End of An Era!" For the last 10 plus years, East Coast fans have enjoyed many wrestling memories from a building located in Queens called the Elks Lodge. Also known as the "Madhouse of Extreme", the building was home for ECW in the mid-late 90's. From the late 90's to November 29th, it was home to USA Pro Wrestling. Unfortunately, this mainstay for pro wrestling has been sold, and November 29th will be the last ever wrestling event in the building. The closing of this building is truly an "End Of An Era". Come down and be part of history, as USA Pro Wrestling presents the last ever show at the Elks Lodge, on Saturday November 29, 2003. Join us as we say farewell to the Madhouse of Extreme; not with balloons and streamers, but with wrestling, entertainment, women, violence, and blood! LucharesuFan619 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2003 The X-Treme Title match sounds fantastic. Reefer and Sonjay in the same ring at the same time is a dream. And Deranged can't hurt, either... The Balls/Axl match will be a really fun ECW-style bloodbath. And I like the sound of Kruel/Diamond. If Diamond works hard, it could be really good. And Striker/Slyk? Hell, yeah. Not to mention D'Lo...
The Dames 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2003 Yeah, I was a jackass for going to the last time the Elks Lodge threatened to close down and USA Pro ran a show there that lasted 6 hours. Dames
Nevermortal 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2003 Yeah, I'm a jackass because I don't want to see Shane Douglas v. Sandman as my main event. That card fucking blows, and seeing as they've got Low Life Louie working it, its even going to blow harder.
LucharesuFan619 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2003 Yeah, I'm a jackass because I don't want to see Shane Douglas v. Sandman as my main event. That card fucking blows, and seeing as they've got Low Life Louie working it, its even going to blow harder. Obviously, the workrate sucks. I never said it didn't. The reason to attend this show is because of the history/drama that will be prevalent with the ECW-style card.
LucharesuFan619 0 Report post Posted November 26, 2003 Just added to the card...a match I've been pushing for ever since Dutt first started his rise in CZW... SONJAY DUTT vs. LOW KI, baby! Should be sweet.
LucharesuFan619 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2003 RESULTS, COURTESY OF PWBTS.COM USA Pro Wrestling "End Of An Era" Results" Elks Lodge (Queens NY) 11/29/2003 Announced Attendance: 1468 Reported by Anthony DeBlasi USA Pro Wrestling presented the last ever wrestling event at the Elks Lodge with an announced crowd of 1468! You could not move in the building without knocking over someone. Despite the arena being elbow room only, the chilly weather outside kept the arena from becoming too hot. Match #1-Fred Sampson Defeated Tommy Trouble in the opening contest at 4:38 with a powerslam and pin. Good way to start things off, as these two worked well in the ring. Many remember Fred Sampson as the security guard during Smackdown 2 weeks ago. Match #2 The Invitational King Of The Young Guns Elks match won by Papalicious in 19:05...Others involved in the match included Travis Blackchurch with Penny Dreadful,Ken Scampi,Angry Young Man,Pappalicious,J-Kronic,Jay Static,Johnny TNT, Justin Cage, JAV, Sabotage, Afato,Remy and Chris Danger The Truck Driver. After the number of high risk spots during the match, we are happy to report noone was injured. Matchv#3 Christopher Street Connection def The Solution w/ Miss Michelle 8:44 when Buffy pinned Papadon (The CSC are very funny with their antics as always. Great match, where these 2 teams work well against each other. Funny how males at ringside litterally skip over to CSC for kisses!) Match #4-Los Lunatics became the first 6 man Triad Title Holders, defeating Trailer Park Trash, Elm Street Kids, Rob Fury, Envy and Jimmy Hustler in 12:46. Every team worked their asses off during this match. Fans get nice pop to each team for their work. Match #5 M-Tizzle aka Mike Tobin def Prince Nana in 2:42 (Prince Nana got huge heat over the crowd last night berating the fans in attendance. Something about Nana on the mic that just oozes crowd heat. Funny segment when he compated a father who brought his 6 year old son to Michael Jackson.) Match #6 First Time Ever! In what is being considered the match of the year, Low-Ki defeated Sonjay Dutt in 18:50 with a Ki-Krusher 99 and pin. They both exchanged moves and counter moves and outdoing each other the fans ate it up and awed in amazement. Get the video or DVD when it comes out and you'll see how amazing this match was. This was the first time ever these 2 faced off 1 on 1, and it will not be the last. This match was simply a work of art in the ring. Match #7- Mike Kruel w/ Simply Lucious def Crowbar Devin Storm with Serena in 14:30 to win the vacated USA PRO US Title last held by Billy Reil (Read my notes below on title change) After the match, Simon Diamond and Matt Stryker along with Bobcat looking like GI Hoe came out and offered Mike Kruel & Luscious to be part of Knightlife, which Kruel accepts. At one point, Kruel tried to strut, which looked more like a robot that hadn't been greased in a while. Masked Maniac came out and did a shoot about the history of The Elks and said if it wasnt for ECW, USA Pro wouldnt have been here. He brought up past feds that had history in the building as well. Real classy talking on Maniac's part. He then brings in Dana Dameson, who came out in a Yankees jersey with barely anything underneath. Obviously the Yankees got a huge pop. If I were her though, I would have came out in a Boston jersey, and kept it on. Anyway Maniac berates her about being a ring rat, and then gives her a powerslam. Ken Sweeny comes out and attacks Maniac. Match #8 Masked Maniac def Ken Sweeney in 6:47. At one point during the match, Maniac literally climbed the window in the corner of the arena and splashed onto Sweeny thru the DOI merchandise table. I cant remember when Masked Maniac received three Holy Shit chants. Quite a few in attendance didnt see the spot - get the video! Maniac is not the best wrestler out there, but doesn't hold back on taking and giving a beating. Match #9 Lowlife Louie Ramos won a hardcore match defeating "The Bison" Johnny Bravado, The New Dynamite Kid and Danny Damanto in 12:53, referee was The Motivator...Very brutal and bloody match which saw a Home Depot Hand Saw, Frying Pan, Pizza Cutter, Baseball Bat with thumbtacks, Baseball Bat with Christmas Ornaments attached, Cookie Sheets, Staple Gun and Lemons! During the match Valet Amanda Violet had a dollar bill stapled into her head once again by Louie. Bravado and Demanto took Louie's boot and sock off, and stapled a dollar bill onto Louie's foot! OUCH!!!! Not only did it look sick, but they stapled it to the middle of the foot, not the heel. They opened up a few Lemons and started to rub it in Louie's gash in his arm which was about an inch deep. Match ended when Louie hit Bravado with a flaming bat and a Death Valley Driver for the pin. After the match, the three were beating down Louie when Reefer came out with a chair. As the three cleared the ring, Reefer held Louie's hand up in the air, then smashed a chair over his head. Crowd was amazed at Reefer who trashed the crowd and said he was the King of NY. Reefer smashed a broomstick over Bravado's head then went to the back. Louie challenged Reefer later for Feb 14th which will go down. Louie plans on ripping out Reefer's heart and setting it on fire! Match #10 Deranged retained the USA PRO X-TREME TITLE defeating Johnny Ova and Dan Barry in 6:23. This match literally was put together 30 min before the show started, as the doctor in attendance would allow Reefer to wrestle (Broken Foot). Reefer, with gear was ready to work the match, but doctors refused. The match was decent, especially keeping in mind that none of the three expected to face each other at the show. Match #11 Mikey & Wayne w/Tara def Dirty Rotten Scoundrels in 9:51. Funny beginning where SAT's music played with Mikey and Wayne wearing S.A.T. outfits. Since Mikey gained a few pounds, there were calling themselves the F.A.T. DRS gave the fans what they wanted: They told them to %##%#% off! The cheers and high fives of the fans is basically taking their focus off their matches. They want to focus on winning rather than the fans, which got the crowd pissed. Kudos to KC Blade, who worked the match with a bad foot and ankle. The doctor in attendance allowed him to work, solely because it wasn't broken and was able to be mobile. Match #12 Balls Mahoney def Axl Rotten in a hardcore challenge in 8:21, when Balls hit the Nutcracker DVD Into a bed of thumb tacks. Balls and Axl both gave two emotional speeches, one before and one after the match. They toasted the Elks Lodge, NY, and their fans which was pretty emotional. Both were bloody and used forks, pizza cutters, scissors. Sick part where they went to each side of the ring, to allow the ringsiders see them carve each other up close and personal. After the match, Ken Scampi came out and complained at both of them. The result, Scampi getting pounded and chairbashed. Scampi basically looked like he belonged in a chum pot after the beatdown. Match #13 Chris Candido w/ Tammy & Bam Bam Bigalow def Simon Diamond and Matt Stryker in 11:10. Fresh off their tour of Puerto Rico, Candido & Tammy were back in USA Pro. Tammy looked like she lost at least 20 pounds, and Candido's groin looked like it was fine. Kudos to Bam Bam Bigelow, who looked 100% after recovering from back surgery. Before the match, Shane Douglas came out with them and gave props to the building, its history, and the Triple Threat before trashing the fans. The match was decent, with all 4 working well in the ring. After the match, Douglas got on the mic and told the crowd he was going to cripple the NY fans' icon, a drunk.Funny when he was comparing Philly & NY as the "armpits of America". Match #14 "The Francise" Shane Douglas defeated The Sandman in 9:14. This match was cut a bit short as The Sandman was bleeding from the ear due to a singapore cane shot. No word to the extent of his injury, but blood was visibly coming out of his ear. Match #15 FOR THE USA PRO HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP Champion Raven defeated Al Snow in 47:56. The match started slow, until out of nowhere, Mikey interfered and hit a backflip over the top rope, over the guard rail onto Al Snow who had been thrown over earlier. Funny interraction at the beginning with the fans and Raven. After the match, the Triple Threat came out and destroyed Raven for about 10 minutes, with Douglas challenging Raven for the USA Pro Heavyweight Title. Douglas berated Raven and the crowd on the mic which infuriated the crowd. The crowd started to throw beer and water bottles into the ring, which resulted in Bam Bam Bigelow giving the fans a "Full Moon" in the Elks Lodge. It was funny but incited the crowd even more. With the beatdown of Raven, Shane totally trashing the crowd, and Bam Bam's ass, The Triple Threat were showered with beer, soda, and garbage from the heel heat. Big difference when you get showered with garbage due to heel heat, then getting it for a bad match. Triple Threat received major heel heat at the end, which will carry over to the next show in Long Island. End of show, "End of An Era", as the Elks Lodge closes it doors to wrestling. Notes: The next USA Pro Show, St.Valentines Day Massacre will take place on Saturday February 14, 2004 at USA Pro's new home, Sportime on 4105 Hempstead Turnpike in Bethpage, Long Island NY...Someone buy the DJ a CD Cleaner. Some tunes skipped during the entrances. However, cool spot when Balls Mahoney had the fans and him do an Acapella of "Big Balls"....US Title was vacated from Billy Reil, as he had to take time off since he is expecting a baby this weekend....Reefer has a legitimate broken foot....KC Blade of DRS worked the match despite nursing an injured foot and ankle a few weeks back....Becky Bayless could not make the show in time due to family committment....Several wrestlers who had a history in the Elks Lodge, wanted and were given extra time in their matches since this was the last show in the building. Several wrestlers were legitimately choked up at the building closing. Bethpage will be the new home of USA Pro and there will be a bus trip from The Elks Lodge to Bethpage Long Island for anyone that can't get there by car or train. Matches already announced for 2/14: - Raven © w/ The Flock vs Shane Douglas w/ Triple Threat - Lowlife Louie Ramos vs Reefer - Stipulations To Be Announced - Sabu vs ???? - Bikini Contest Involving Becky Bayless, April Hunter, Simply Luscious, Dana Dameson, Miss Michelle, Miss Sinful, Amanda Violet, Penny Dreadful, Bobcat, & Tara Charisma. Also scheduled: Balls Mahoney, Axl Rotten, D'LO Brown, Steve Corino, Crowbar, Mike Kruel, Simond Diamond, Matt Stryker, Masked Maniac, DRS, Mikey & Wayne, Sonjay Dutt, Deranged, Billy Reil, Slyk Wagner Brown and more. More matches to be announced in the upcoming days. Visit USAProWrestling.com and their message board for updates on the 2/14 event. Big thanks to Ivan Rothstein for helping me with the results and the match times. Much appreciated. What's funny is that Eric Walker uses the results provided by Mr. DeBlasi, the same guy he and Bob Magee were writing columns demeaning the credentials of this time last year. Oh, how times change...
