Kurt Angle Mark

Kurt Angle's neck worse than originally thought

Recommended Posts

Guest Choken One

No he has had good matches, No question but when he gets all high off his ass and starts promising a ***** match like he did with Lesnar...He doesn't deliver.

He had a easy cop out with WMXIX with the Injury but he blew that chance with Slam and Iron Man Match.

ESP. considering WWE pretty much hyped it like "this will be the greatest match in the history of wrestling!" when it was perhaps only the second worst Iron Man match (after the Hart Stallathon)...

Yeah, but like I said, consider the circumstances around that.

Angle said, I think it was around 6 months before WM that if he and Lesnar went toe-to-toe it would be the greatest ever. That was obviously long before Angle could have seen how the bookers and writers were gonna handle their feud. You also seem to forget one crucial thing, all those matches were against Brock Lesnar.

In my opinion, Brock dragged those matches down big time. Angle may still be somewhat of a rookie, but Lesnar should not have been anywhere near any of those types of matches at his stage of development.

Then I guess you are smarter than Angle because you seem to realize this and Angle did not.

It was the worst iron man match. HHH/Rock was a pretty awful, too...way too much stalling and outside brawling. Bret/Shawn was by far the best. Great finish, too.

Whenever Kurt gets injured (which is happening more and more these days) i wish he would stay out of the ring long enough for everything to heal fully, instead of always rushing back as fast as humanly possible. It's going to catch up to him eventually.

Rock and Triple H had too much stalling but Bret/Shawn didn't?

Anyway, I don't think Angle needs to retire, he just needs to learn what he can and can't do.

I thought the Steamboat/Rude Ironman was pretty good, but they crammed way too many falls into 30 minutes and I felt it detracted. 2-1 or 3-2 would have been better.

Sorry to say, but HHH/Rock was the best Iron man match ever, BY FAR. As it was the only match to truly use the stipulation to deliever all sorts of inventive finishes that you don't see in other matches.

Brock Lesnar did not drag down the Angle/Lesnar matches.

Kurt was doing his same pointless suplexing-terrible transitioning-spotty selling crap in all of them.

I don't see how you can blame Lesnar when Angle was stinking up the ring in those matches.

WHOA!

How the hell was that finish great?! Restarting an iron man match was a ridiculous thing to do. It took away the whole point of having an hour time limit and completely killed any suspense, making it obvious who would win.

That finish was shit.

Ray is dead-on here.

Read SK's review of the match (or better yet, watch it) Angle completely forgets every basic rule of psychology and selling ever, while Lesnar manages to wrestle a pretty smart match.

That Lesnar-Angle Iron Man was awful. I'd rather stab myself in the testicles than watch it ever again.

How fucked up is it that Angle's only been wrestling pro since about 1999, and he's already THIS banged up.

Crazy.

That's what happens when you think you're Superman and you don't take care of yourself.

He's not that different from Mick Foley when you think about it, only in this case it's several small unsafe bumps over the years instead of a few big unsafe ones.

Wasn't terribly impressed with Lesnar's work but at least he can sell hurt body parts, and did so here. Thing is, these were the matches that were supposed to be the greatest we've ever seen. It wasn't even close.

Hideously boring and booked terribly.

I'll never watch it again.

It's not just his ring style that did this, he had a serious previous neck injury from the Olympics. If he had never broken his neck then, he wouldn't be having any problems whatsoever today, or at most, very small ones.

In his book, he said that after he broke his neck, he was injecting novocaine directly into it so he couldn't feel the agonizing pain and could keep wrestling. He also said that because he did this, docters told him he had the neck of an 80 year old after he came home with the gold and had some X-Rays and MRI's done.

It's funny...

Kurt's only been in the game for What 5 years? He has shown more desire and devotion to his sport than many others ever have in 10-15 year careers.

However, it speaks of how selfish and conceited Angle is...

Notice he keeps saying everything he does will be the GREATEST match ever...(He had an obvious out for the WM match but he didn't deliver for the Slam or Iron Man)...

He actually thinks he can carry a "crippled" Bret hart to a ***** because he watched his matches on Videos a couple times.

Why does Kurt do this? He KNOWS Bret can't do this, Bret has even told him face to face that...Yet he keeps pressuring Bret like he's a little boy that doesn't want to play little League.

Sorry, Kurt that your career will end because you took bump after bump that you knew well enough that you're neck couldn't support...but don't cocktease not only the fans but Bret himself.

He should know Bret would give ANYTHING to go one more time in that ring, esp at WMXX with Kurt Angle...But He can't.

Kurt is willing to die for his own slefish reasons...He shouldn't drag Bret with him.

If Kurt wants a fucking High Profile match...Push for a Match with Shawn or Rock...

He's not gonna get a high profile match like he wants because Vince can't trust him to NOT get injuried again.

Well if there is money to be made.....

All the same, while it may not be a good idea for Angle to keep trudging along with all the germans and high angle bumps. I really want to see an Angle/Bret match if it can be done. I can remember wincing and keeping my fingers crossed for both Angles WM match with Brock and the Summerslam match with HBK and HHH and everything turned out fine there. Thankfully so. If Angle trusts his instincts maybe he is better off than we think.

I'll also take a match with HBK, but for some reason it doesn't interest me as much.
