Jack_Bauer Posted November 26, 2003 Report Posted November 26, 2003 Well, I decided what the hell. I bought the DVD, and all of the hype of Robbie Williams being a great entertainer is true. He is a HELL of a singer, and I think that gets overlooked because of the music he does. The DVD is super, and looked like a great concert. Moby, Ash and The Darkness were the support, which makes me wonder why I didn't even TRY for a ticket.
King Kamala Posted November 26, 2003 Report Posted November 26, 2003 Prepare to get rushed by a bunch of Brits. Robbie Williams is a former member of British boyband Take That (They had one hit in America "Back For Good") who became an even bigger solo star. Remember the music video where the guy ripped off his own skin and flesh? That was him.
Jack_Bauer Posted November 26, 2003 Author Report Posted November 26, 2003 Oh yeah, the US. This guy TOTALLY flopped over there, while he plays in front of 300,000 people over here.

Eh he had a few minor hits over here and an overplayed video on MTV, nothing compared to his UK success but not a total flop.
razazteca Posted November 26, 2003 Report Posted November 26, 2003 So did Justin Timberlake steal Robbie's look and style? I have seen Robbie on MTV a few times and well what can I say I am not a boy band fanboy. Did'nt Simon from the American Idol show make the Take That band?
Edwin MacPhisto Posted November 26, 2003 Report Posted November 26, 2003 I've always kinda wanted to punch Robbie Williams in the face. Potentially in the kidney, if I had the angle.

Justin didn't even NEARLY steal the style of Robbie. If he did, he would be about one hundred times better. He does pretty much bubblepop music, but he is superb at it, and the only PURE pop artist that I think is any good. And Simon DID make the band to the best of my knowledge. He also made the Wrestlemania album all those years ago.
JJMc Posted November 26, 2003 Report Posted November 26, 2003 Honest, I thought it said Robin Williams. I see "he's a hell of a singer" and start thinking about the opening scene in Mrs. Doubtfire...hehe. Yup.
King Kamala Posted November 26, 2003 Report Posted November 26, 2003 Was it Robin Williams or Jim Carrey who sang on a Beatles tribute album? Either way it wasn't funny.
spiny norman Posted November 27, 2003 Report Posted November 27, 2003 Robin Williams sang Come Together on a Beatles Tribute album, Jim Carrey sang I Am The Walrus. I like Robbie musically, but I think he comes across as an absolute arsehole. Also, the line from Live At Knebworth of "I am Robbie Williams, and for the next two hours, your arse is mine!" really pissed me off.
