The Czech Republic 0 Report post Posted November 29, 2003 I have one question for my Canadian brethren: is your coverage always this good? Commentary, camera angles, info graphics, everything...CBC is blowing ESPN out of the water with hockey coverage. And of course, what commercial do I see during the Megastars game that displays how great Canadians do hockey? "Catch Red Wings vs. Blues on ESPN..>Hockey, Made In America." treble 0 Report post Posted November 29, 2003 There was one camera angle that they used that they aren't able to use in indoor arenas, and that was the one that ran along the top of the glass. Other than that, they produced it as much like a normal game as they probably could. I don't understand why they put Glenn Healy in the booth with Cuthbert and Millen, though. And of course, what commercial do I see during the Megastars game that displays how great Canadians do hockey? "Catch Red Wings vs. Blues on ESPN..>Hockey, Made In America." I was in awe as well, even though every time that I saw the camera running on the top of the glass, I thought it was an injured Edmonton player for some reason. Of course, I see a commercial "ESPN Classic is having Heritage Day today...ALL DAY LONG, of great hockey, etc.etc." and then I look past the Oil v. Habs game and there's no hockey on ESPN Classic until, like next week. Idiots. Red Wings v. Blues has been ok, I guess.
treble 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2003 The Leafs/Sens game was really good tonight, especially considering who won.

They've been doing it every Saturday for probaly like 50 years 2. They actually give a shit about hockey.

Dogbert 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2003 NHL Referees > Trout. If anyone watched the Flames/Canucks game, you know EXACTLY what I mean. Calgary got rooked AGAIN.
treble 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2003 Was it Ohlund that smoked Yelle there? That was harsh.
Dogbert 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2003 Yeah. Punch to the face, right in front of the referee, no call. Also, Iginla gets cross-checked into Cloutier and takes 2 minutes for it. That was a laugh.
The Czech Republic 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2003 Sounds like something Claude Lemieux would get away with. So did he retire? I thought he was still with the Stars but I guess not.
Tawren 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2003 Flames choke again, that's all I have to say. And yeah, CBC rocks
Guest AllCanadian Report post Posted November 30, 2003 NHL Referees > Trout. If anyone watched the Flames/Canucks game, you know EXACTLY what I mean. Calgary got rooked AGAIN. Goes both ways Linden got hacked in the nose no call, In the 10 man scrum whoever paired of with Henrik dropped his right glove and landed 2 shots just got a roughting minor. treble 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2003 There shouldn't have been a penalty on that Linden thing (if we're talking about the same incident, which I think we are). He got hooked in the shoulder, got rid of the puck, then a second later grabbed his face and tried to draw a penalty.
Red Baron 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2003 the Linden incident should be no call, as well as Iginla for goaltender interference, it looked like more of a dive by Cloutier than anything

CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted December 2, 2003 You may have won this round...but we'll get you next time, Gadget, NEXT TIME!!! *shakes fist* Oh well...at least the Sens beat the Flyers last night, which gives me an excuse to pull out this old gem:
Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted December 2, 2003 Oh well...at least the Sens beat the Flyers last night, which gives me an excuse to pull out this old gem: Why not just keep it out all the time? I mean, it's gotta happen sometime sooner-to-later. *refering to the "firing" of Clarke*

nl5xsk1 0 Report post Posted December 3, 2003 Is Kerry Fraser the worst official in the League, or does it just seem that way because he's so easy to hate? The ones that I most detest are the ones that are the most memorable (Fraser, Collins, Marouelli) so their mistakes are the ones that most stick out in my mind. Now that Stewart's retired, there's really only one zebra that I don't hate now, and that's Scapinello. And even that is mostly personal - I was at a game years ago (I was maybe 15 or so) and me and my friends snuck down to the front row, and spent more time cheering on "Scappy" than we did either the Bruins OR the Oilers. Halfway through the 3rd period, he skated by and tossed me a game-used puck. So, I have a puck that was on the same ice as Messier, Bourque, and Neely. Yes, Scappy rules. Guest Olympic Slam Report post Posted December 3, 2003 Is Kerry Fraser the worst official in the League, or does it just seem that way because he's so easy to hate? Everybody hates him! Its a leage-wide constant. "Fraser sucks" is required chanting at any and all games he refs. He makes horrid calls like its a bodily function, but I think we hate him more because of his hair. I mean, look at it! His hair hasn't moved in 20 years! There's a reason he doesn't wear a helmet.

And Fraser's apparently reffed 1500+ regular season games, so I think we can find more than a few examples of his shittiness. And yeah, I think he goes out of his way to favour one team over the other in any given game...
