Guest The Rising Star Posted December 1, 2003 Report Posted December 1, 2003 I'm leaning towards SF, mostly because of Super Street Fighter 2: The New Challengers for SNES.
Jer Posted December 1, 2003 Report Posted December 1, 2003 I prefer SC2 over T4, but I vote Tekken as the best fighting series. TTT is probably my pick for best fighting game of all time.
Guest Kamui Posted December 1, 2003 Report Posted December 1, 2003 Guilty Gear (from X on, at least) owns them all, but Street Fighter is the best of the ones up there. -Duo
AndrewTS Posted December 1, 2003 Report Posted December 1, 2003 I think it's unfair to throw 3D and 2D fighters together there, because they're completely different styles of fighters. 3D fanatics will take the 3D games anytime, and 2D fanatics like me will take the 2D ones. Street Fighter, in my opinion. However, what in the holy hell is KILLER INSTINCT doing on that list?!?!?
Guest Kamui Posted December 1, 2003 Report Posted December 1, 2003 Street Fighter, in my opinion. However, what in the holy hell is KILLER INSTINCT doing on that list?!?!? That's what I was wondering. My poor, horribly underrated Guilty Gear gets snubbed, but KILLER F'N INSTINCT gets on the poll?!? -Duo
eiker_ir Posted December 1, 2003 Report Posted December 1, 2003 i voted SF, you should've put the KOF series instead of Killer Instinct
Anya Posted December 1, 2003 Report Posted December 1, 2003 What's wrong with KI? Tekken is the best.
Guest Kamui Posted December 1, 2003 Report Posted December 1, 2003 What's wrong with KI? It was a good fighter for its time, but it was a one-shot game, not a franchise like every other fighter on the poll, and most people would probably not include it on the list of all-time best fighters. In my opinion, both King of Fighters and Guilty Gear would have been better choices. But hey, varying opinions and all that. KI was too combo-heavy for my personal tastes, though, but that's just me. -Duo
Anya Posted December 1, 2003 Report Posted December 1, 2003 KI has two games, which is only one less than GG and the Soul series.
Guest Kamui Posted December 1, 2003 Report Posted December 1, 2003 KI has two games, which is only one less than GG and the Soul series. Two less, actually, GG has Guilty Gear, GGX, GGX Plus/Reloaded/1.5, and GGXX. And I forgot all about KI2, because I'm stupid. Oh well. Then keep KI but include GG and KoF too, damnit~!! -Duo
Anya Posted December 1, 2003 Report Posted December 1, 2003 #Reload is an upgrade of XX. There's also GGX+ and the portable games. But if you're going to count that stuff you have to count KI Gold(even though KI2 is better than Gold...), which means KI has as many as Soul.

But if you're going to count that stuff you have to count KI Gold(even though KI2 is better than Gold...), which means KI has as many as Soul. I thought Reloaded was the American name for GGX+, which was canceled? Must have gotten something mixed up. And GGX+ and 1.5 are two different games. GGX+ is the PS2 GGX update, while 1.5 was an arcade-only update that was basically GGX with GGXX's play mechanics. Two seperate titles. But yeah, I see your point. -Duo
Anya Posted December 1, 2003 Report Posted December 1, 2003 #Reload is a Japanese only upgrade to XX that added Robo Ky and some other crap. I doubt it will ever come to America.
Guest Kamui Posted December 1, 2003 Report Posted December 1, 2003 I always wondered why the hell Robo-Ky wasn't in XX- it was all the way back in the ORIGINAL X (unlock the Guilty Gear mode and pick Ky, boom, Robo-Ky) and as a totally seperate character in GGX+. -Duo
moral suasion Posted December 5, 2003 Report Posted December 5, 2003 I would say Streets of Rage. But I don't know if that is really considered a fighting game.
AndrewTS Posted December 5, 2003 Report Posted December 5, 2003 What's wrong with KI? What's right with it? Okay, besides cool character designs, and graphics that were fantastic for the time? I would say Streets of Rage. But I don't know if that is really considered a fighting game. Side-scrolling beat 'em up. Nope, not really a fighting game. When people say "fighting game" they usually mean a one-on-one combat game where matches take place on one of many possible enclosed environments. Technically, that excludes beat 'em ups and Super Smash Brothers style games. As well as wrestling games (which Spike TV didn't know).
Renegade Posted December 5, 2003 Report Posted December 5, 2003 Where is KOF? Anyway out of that list Street fighter
AndrewTS Posted December 5, 2003 Report Posted December 5, 2003 I didn't complain about certain choices being omitted because the question was "out of these" so I assume the original poster had his reasons for only asking about those.
Anya Posted December 5, 2003 Report Posted December 5, 2003 What's right with it? Okay, besides cool character designs, and graphics that were fantastic for the time? Innovative gameplay, great soundtracks and atmosphere.
Guest Nacho Nixon Posted December 5, 2003 Report Posted December 5, 2003 I've always been a Samurai Shodown fan myself.
Damaramu Posted December 5, 2003 Report Posted December 5, 2003 (edited) I picked Street Fighter. It's just about the funnest fighting game I've ever played. Plus the wars between me and my friend our legendary amongst our group of friends. "Hey can we get the Playstation yet?" "No J.R. and Matt are still playing SF Alpha 3!" "What's the score?" "J.R. 77....Matt 76. I mean...Matt 77." "OH! It's getting good!" Edited December 6, 2003 by The Mighty Damaramu
Anya Posted December 5, 2003 Report Posted December 5, 2003 Alpha 3 is cool. I own 3 different versions because I'm just too hardcore. Mika and Karin should return.
Renegade Posted December 5, 2003 Report Posted December 5, 2003 Alpha 3 is cool. I own 3 different versions because I'm just too hardcore. ...joke right?
AndrewTS Posted December 5, 2003 Report Posted December 5, 2003 Alpha 3 is cool. I own 3 different versions because I'm just too hardcore. ...joke right? Considering she owns almost every version of ever MK game made, I don't find that hard to believe. Even MKA for GBA, Sakura? Innovative gameplay, great soundtracks and atmosphere. Time Killers had innovative gameplay too--I wouldn't call it good. Mika and Karin should return. Indeed. I loved the roster, but didn't like the actual game much.
razazteca Posted December 6, 2003 Report Posted December 6, 2003 Alpha 3 is cool. I own 3 different versions because I'm just too hardcore. Mika and Karin should return. Playstation, Dreamcast, GBA? I own 2 versions of KOF 99 now that is Hardcore.
Anya Posted December 6, 2003 Report Posted December 6, 2003 I have the GBA, PSX and arcade versions of Alpha 3. I used to have the DC one but sold it. And yeah, I have MK Advance. It sucks.

Anya Posted December 6, 2003 Report Posted December 6, 2003 I think when you own the arcade version you qualify for hardcore status.
Guest Skironox Posted December 6, 2003 Report Posted December 6, 2003 Man, I wish I had that much free cash. To think of all the crap I could buy...
Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Posted December 6, 2003 Report Posted December 6, 2003 Where is the coolest damn Fight Franchise ever... FIGHTER'S HISTORY!
