Michrome 0 Report post Posted December 2, 2003 I'm going to get the show Wednesday to see Styles vs. Jarrett, the X Division 3-way, and the possible turn of Punk on Raven. Now, here is the plea. ***Let Styles And Jarrett Have Time For Fuck's Sakes!*** I mean, honestly, why do they keep having 12 minute matches when I *know* they could have a real solid 20 minute main event. I mean, people are PAYING ten bucks for this show to see this match in particular, so wasting time that could be devoted to this on mindless bullshit (PIPER) is really lame. If Piper gets a 10 minute interview, and the main event is only 10 minutes, I am boycotting the show forever. Give people like me a reason to buy the show more often. Give me real main events. Guest Dynamite Kido Report post Posted December 2, 2003 I agree. Hell, I'm not even as picky. If there is a good matchup with potential on the card and isn't the main event, give it time anyway. Hell, when the card looks strong and it still sucks it's always because of time. If they would quit acting like everyone watched it for free maybe they could get the ball rolling again. They don't even give X-division matches enough time anymore, and that was the one thing they did for a WHILE. Maybe they should wake up and realize they are trying to cram too much shit into one show.
The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted December 2, 2003 I agree completely. My friend and I were discussing this last week. They have the talent to throw on a good 20 minute match...and they never do. If they started doing so...their would be at least one positive buzz surrounding the company on the net...and that's where all their viewers come from. Nevermortal 0 Report post Posted December 2, 2003 (edited) Hey...I just realized that AJ Styles is going to fail to win both the NWA and RoH titles in the same week! I'm going to go out on a major limb here and say that in retrospect, the match with Samoa Joe will probably be light years ahead of his match with JJJ. Astro101 0 Report post Posted December 2, 2003 I know JJ and AJ can have a terrific match up if there is enough time to give, which they always have but never use up. I just want a 20 minute match with a nice clean finish. But this is TNA so there are no clean finishes in title matches.

But this is TNA so there are no clean finishes in title matches. hopefully Jarrett/Styles is a good 20 minutes or close to it... the one in February for about 8 minutes looked like it was going to be fucking fantastic but then the overbooking bullshit started so hopefully they only have Jarrett a little... I think if there was a clean finish everyone would continue to bitch about Jarrett going over clean... But with Jarrett going over with a little cheating and keeping AJ strong like they did last time... it should be excellent...

It will propably be a very different match, but I wouldn't say better.
Guest Dynamite Kido Report post Posted December 3, 2003 Here is the reason and main point to why AJ should win the title off JJ tonight. If AJ wins, he automatically is totally where he needs to be and can be a champion (this time around) that could be over huge with the crowds and could actually garner a lot of interest. Then while Hogan/Jarrett starts there is another match of interest(NWA Title match with AJ). This way the card for the TNA supershow doesn't rest in a match that I would have to say that their "core" audience could care less about. Thus having both the "core" and "mark" fans ordering the show.

Michrome 0 Report post Posted December 3, 2003 If they give it some time, I disagree. It will propably be a very different match, but I wouldn't say better. I don't really see how Jarrett-Styles could be any better than ***1/2, even with a ton of time. I think we keep forgetting that Jarrett just isn't even close to the level he was at in 2000, let alone the early 90s. Outside of his match with Booker at BaTB 2000, I've been pretty disappointed with virtually every Jarrett performance I've seen since he came back to WCW. Almost everyone I've talked to that went to 11/29 is saying it's Samoa Joe's best RoH match, which means it should be great. Jarrett's one of those frustrating guys that you know could put out a **** match, but it just doesn't happen.

The fact of the matter is that Joe is a solid worker that is up and coming in this sport. But Jarrett is definately on a decline. I am not saying that JJ couldn't pull a **** match, especially with someone as good as AJ. But honestly it is unlikely.

You start by saying that you don't think it could be any better than 3 and a half stars, and then at the end you say Jarrett is frustrating because you know he can put on a 4 star match. I don't think Jarrett has tried especially hard in his matches over the last couple of years because I think he's involved in so many things with the company that his actual in ring work suffers. If he puts his mind to it, I'm sure he and AJ could pull out a 4 star match.
Michrome 0 Report post Posted December 3, 2003 The point is that even though I think it could happen, I don't think it will happen, if the last few years of Jarrett mean anything.

Jarrett's 1st title win... what did you think of that...? Personally... i did not expect it to be anywhere near how good it was...
