Kerry uses swear word, offends Chief of Staff

I guess Zappa was right when he said that most rock journalism is people who can't write interviewing people who can't talk for people who can't read...

That guy always did have a way with words..

"Some scientists claim that hydrogen, because it is so plentiful, is the basic building block of the universe. I dispute that. I say that there is more stupidity than hydrogen, and that is the basic building block of the universe"

A difference I suppose, Kerry KNEW he was talking to the media and they were recording what he was saying

Realistically, though, it could have "slipped" out. It's not like everyone else in America doesn't cuss like it doesn't matter.

Hasn't his chief of staff basically said that Kerry meant to use the "F" bomb?

I guess this calls for an update:

OLD: Say, did you know John Kerry served in Vietnam?

V 2.0: Say, did you know John Kerry fucking served in Vietnam?...

WHAT?

JOHN KERRY FUCKING SERVED?

GET THE FUCK OUTTA TOWN!

Hey, I like it.

Stephen Hess, a Brookings Institution presidential scholar, says he can't recall another candidate attacking a president by using foul language in a public interview, according to the New York Post.

''It's so unnecessary," Hess told the paper. ''In a way it's a kind of pandering [by Kerry] to a group he sees as hip . . . I think John Kerry is going to regret saying this.''

The Kerry campaign said the Massachusetts senator had no regrets.

"John Kerry saw combat up close, and he doesn't mince words when it comes to politicians who put ideological recklessness ahead of American troops," said spokeswoman Stephanie Cutter. "I think the American people would rather Card and the rest of the White House staff spend more time on fixing Bush's flawed policy in Iraq than on Sen. Kerry's language."

Perhaps this is what Mike is referring too.

Well that is how you read it. You are a liberal after all. :)

I read it different... looks to me like he meant to say it and the spokesperson is just covering up by using the "he doesn't mince words" line so it's okay for him to let loose with profanity (I don't really care but at least admit it) and I agree with Mike on this one.

It's obvious.

He's defending himself, not admitting that he "meant" to say it.

Umm, I don't see where you got THAT one from. And your misreading of this is odd, since it doesn't involve your hetero-life mate, Dean.

Hey Mike, did Bush think Iraq was an imminent threat?

To paraphrase his speech on it, with a terrorist country, they are ALWAYS an imminent threat. If you're going to wait for them to become an "imminent threat" in the traditional sense of the word, you'll end up having planes fly into buildings before you act.
