Guest PowerPB13 Report post Posted December 21, 2003 I want someone to explain how in the blue fuck the Minus 1 Level in the original Super Mario Bros. was actually legit? If that's the case, then I've spent the last 15 years living a lie. Jump on Bowser and the axe at the same time but you have to be either fire or big Mario. Correct trick, wrong outcome. I was wondering if anyone else had heard of that one. The trick you mentioned was to get small Mario with fireballs. If you jump on Bowser and the axe at the same time as big/fiery Mario, you'll start flickering but won't shrink. In the next level, if you hit a power-up block you'll get a red mushroom, and picking it up will actually shrink you to being small Mario. Then the next power-up block you hit will give you the flower, and if you get it, you'll be "small fiery Mario". The game sprite will briefly change to big Mario when you throw a fireball, but revert back to small fiery Mario right after that. And I've been to World -1 via the route described in World 1-2, so I know that one's true... -Patrick
Guest MikeSC Report post Posted December 22, 2003 King Hippo never got up for me. Anyone actually made it to facing Tyson? Heck, if you input Nintendo's corporate phone number in the password screen, you'd go straight to Mike Tyson. -=Mike
Art Sandusky 0 Report post Posted December 22, 2003 I just wanted to note how awesome it is that, even with all the tremendously visual and generally superior (sensually) games today, the one that touched the current gaming mania all off is the one being discussed the most. I'd say some patriotic pro-Nintendo thing now, but I'm an X-Box guy these days, so meh. (Still might get a Gamecube now that they're so cheap...)
chaosrage 0 Report post Posted December 22, 2003 (Still might get a Gamecube now that they're so cheap...) It's worth it just for Eternal Darkness alone.
Art Sandusky 0 Report post Posted December 22, 2003 Since that doesn't sound like a sports or racing game or DBZ Budokai or Star Wars game, I can safely say I probably wouldn't be interested.

Nope, it's more of a Resident-Evil-meets-HP-Lovecraft type game, creepy as hell at times, generally fun to play.
Ed Wood Caulfield 0 Report post Posted December 23, 2003 I never understood Atari or Philips hype about their consoles. Atari Jaguar was hyped to be the very 1st 64-bit system but what was the killer app? Tempest and Test Drive and the controller was one of the worst ever made. I remember Philips CD-I was being sold not only as a game system but a family entertainment all in one deal. I think the price of these next gen consoles were too high for the time what was it $299 or more? I'll never ever forget the commercials hyping up the Atari Jaguar. From November 1994-January 1995, I remember those commercials being played every single day on the WB from 3-6 p.m. There was this one commercial where these people are visiting a psychologist, and all they can talk about is the games featured on the Jaguar. Then there is another one, where someone is shown throwing their NES, Super Nintendo, Gameboy, and Sega Genesis into this trunk with the annoucer saying "You won't have to play with these antiques anymore, because the future of video games has arrived! Introducing the Atari Jaguar. The world's first 64-Bit Gaming Console. With all new games, graphics. You will never see another system like this. So don't bother dusting off your old systems. Get the future of games. The Jaguar by Atari." Or something like that. I remember the Jaguar getting so much hype, yet 2 or 4 months later, it completley disappeared. Anyone ever read the interview from one of the creators of the Jaguar from a gaming magazine (I forget the name), where the creator said that the Playstation had better graphics, and was just a little bit better than the Jaguar. That one cracks me up. Does anyone remember this?
Kardo 0 Report post Posted December 23, 2003 Talking about consoles disappearing. I was walking past a mobile phone store and there was an ad for the N-Gage. It looks just like the Lynx and I'd be surprised if it doesn't last just as long.
