The OAO Return of The King thread

For someone who hasn't read the books, what exactly is the Mouth of Sauron?

Spoiler (Highlight to Read):

He's basically Sauron's spokesperson. In the book he comes out and faces Aragorn at the Black Gate and shows him the mithril coat that was taken from Frodo in an attempt to convince him his "spies" are dead. (He thought they were just spies he still didn't know they had the ring)

The movie left him out and the whole black gate segment seemed lacking because of it. Aragorn calls out someone to speak with and just the army comes out.

And when I say tacked on, I mean he blurts it out of nowhere on the mountain at the end that he'd marry her.

Right, but if he had blabbed about it throughout the three movies people would have complained to no end. As it was, you could see pretty big hints to it at the beginning of FotR.

Also, in the book Sam (as well as both Merry and Pippen) is MUCH, MUCH younger than Frodo, in other words Frodo-Sam is more like Bruce Wayne-Dick Grayson style relationship (Middle age guy and youthfull ward)

They severly collapsed the time Gandalf spent researching about The Ring before returning to send Frodo off to Rivendale and probably made Frodo and Sam close to the same age as so not to bring up a Batman and Robin kind of controversy (the characters, not the awful movie)

Well, I finally saw the movie last night. Great movie; my favorite ofthe three.

Surely not the greatest trilogy of all time though.

As for the previews...

THE MASK 2???

Yuck.
