TNA deal with WGN very likely

Recommended Posts

You have to spend money to make money...

... but we don't get WGN here anymore, haven't for about five years. Guess any shot (or remote want) I had to continue following TNA is over.

Obviously this is what they want, as the deal doesn't seem that good (paid programming isn't something to be proud of).

I hope they do well but it will be an uphill battle for sure (7 a.m. timeslot in PST).

In saying that I hope they put some solid angles together and stop the flat showing that ended 2003. Too many angles seemed to take to long to conclude.

They need shock, but not Russo shock, rather Truth becoming a main event singles heel and Harris becoming a top singles face. Push the envelope in the ring and establish new characters. Let's be realistic in almost 2 years they have yet to make one marketable and money making star. Raven is close and no one is near him for being over with the Nashville crowd.

To me it's all the colors and respectable backdrop that makes the show seem successful. But it's not, especially when you have boring champs (all three divisions).

What's WGN?

A superstation out of Chicago know mostly for Chicago Cubs and White Sox baseball. Also, the Bulls air on it alot or at least they used too.

Great station for sports but piss poor for anything else.

Well, I have WGN at school but not at home. I don't think it's worth it because WGN isn't a national station. It only has clearences on some cable systems. Just as a sidenote, the Observer is saying that this with or against Jarrett storyline is expected to have something to do with the WGN deal.

Lemme guess...Callis reforms THE NETWORK...

Dear god....don't even joke about that.

I still have nightmares about how bad that angle was.

Hey! Don't let me hear you say that again, or I'll tell the office!

Any angle that gets Joel Gertner shirtless is a nightmare.

From the Observer:

It was thought that the TNA/WGN TV deal was done, and that TNA would start airing a one hour Saturday morning show on WGN starting in mid-January. However, it now appears that the deal may not be final. The deal has yet to be announced on PPV and many in the promotion are again worried about the cost of putting on the show (WGN is charging them $60,000 just for the timeslot). TNA is considering cutting the show down to 30 minutes rather than an hour, so that they cut their costs in half but still get national TV exposure.
