The Ghost of bps21 Posted December 24, 2003 Report Posted December 24, 2003 If I hadn't already seen them all and have them on tape...I'd order! I personally think Sabin vs. Juvi and Low Ki vs. Styles (up until the sports entertainment finish) were TNA's 2 best matches this year. Teddy Hart/Juvi was a mega spotfest and XXX vs. Lynn and Red was good too. As for Ultimate X...well...you can see what 99% of people are complaining about. I do think it's funny that the "Best of the X division" Special features an NWA World Title match and an NWA Tag Team Title match.
Corey_Lazarus Posted December 24, 2003 Report Posted December 24, 2003 Glad I'm not watching. I already have all of the matches on tape, and I don't give a fuck about the year-end rewards.
Brocklock Posted December 24, 2003 Report Posted December 24, 2003 I really want to see that Ki/Styles match, but I don't think it's worth 10 dollars ordering for one match.
Styles Posted December 24, 2003 Report Posted December 24, 2003 Being a compulsive TNA viewer I have all those matches. But, I would highly reccomend anyone who is not a regular watcher of TNA to spend a little of their Christmas money on this show. The matches are all excellent and shows you how good TNA can be when they deliver.
Corey_Lazarus Posted December 24, 2003 Report Posted December 24, 2003 I think the sad thing is how not a single match is from after the Super X tourney. This means the company recognizes that the X-Division hasn't been much since September 3rd.
The Ghost of bps21 Posted December 24, 2003 Report Posted December 24, 2003 That's true... but here's a worse one: Outside of the matches they chose...and a couple Sabin/Kazarian matches (their first one and the one from the X cup) and Sabin's debut match (the 4 way tag that came down to Lynn and Red vs. XXX) and the short but sweet Sabin/London match... let's just say...they would have tapped out at a top 10 best of the X division for the whole year. That's less than one per month.
Astro101 Posted December 25, 2003 Report Posted December 25, 2003 Wonder if Punk's gonna repeat his web journal on the air...
Corey_Lazarus Posted December 25, 2003 Report Posted December 25, 2003 Which is sad, Bryan, especially since the X-Division Special last year, which was only the 12th aired TNA program (with the 12th week of original programming airing the following week) had about 6 or 7 highlighted bouts*. And by the end of 2002, the X-Division was still the best thing TNA had going for them. * = The matches, as I recall, that were highlighted were: -Flying Elvises vs. LowKi/AJ Styles/Jerry Lynn -AJ Styles vs. Jerry Lynn vs. LowKi vs. Psicosis -LowKi vs. Christopher Daniels vs. Kid Romeo vs. Shark Boy (?) vs. Tony Mamaluke vs. Jerry Lynn -AJ Styles vs. LowKi -LowKi vs. The Amazing Red -LowKi vs. Jerry Lynn vs. AJ Styles -Jerry Lynn vs. AJ Styles -Jerry Lynn vs. LowKi vs. AJ Styles (Ladder) That's 8 matches, 2 short of the noteworthy ones of 2003, within 11 weeks.
The Ghost of bps21 Posted December 25, 2003 Report Posted December 25, 2003 On the other hand most of the best X guys (Styles, Daniels, Low Ki) spent most of the year in the heavywieght or tag team division. Only Sabin really stepped up as a regular
Guest Devin Posted December 25, 2003 Report Posted December 25, 2003 That's true... but here's a worse one: Outside of the matches they chose...and a couple Sabin/Kazarian matches (their first one and the one from the X cup) and Sabin's debut match (the 4 way tag that came down to Lynn and Red vs. XXX) and the short but sweet Sabin/London match... let's just say...they would have tapped out at a top 10 best of the X division for the whole year. That's less than one per month. Don't forget Lynn's stuff with Juvi and Super Crazy.
Placebo Effect Posted December 25, 2003 Report Posted December 25, 2003 So, uhhh, did anyone order? I'm interested if the Teddy Hart comments made it to air. I'll black box a replay later.
Corey_Lazarus Posted December 26, 2003 Report Posted December 26, 2003 Why shouldn't we, Devin? The Lynn/Juvi matches were nothing special, Super Crazy was incredibly out of shape, and the entire "feud" just made Lynn own each and every Luchadore. Not much of an angle if it's one-sided...
Guest MikeSC Posted December 26, 2003 Report Posted December 26, 2003 That was a kick-ass PPV. This is what they should have done with the .01 show. Take away the Ultimate X match and the entire show rocked pretty hard. -=Mike
The Ghost of bps21 Posted December 26, 2003 Report Posted December 26, 2003 Yeah...they really blew that one cent show. Especially when you think about how many more people watched it than normal.
