Guest Elgyn Report post Posted December 28, 2003 From 1wrestling: Dick Slater was arrested on Saturday on a charge of attempted murder after allegedly stabbing his ex-girlfriend three times. Slater had been at the home of Theresa Halbert, moving clothes he owned from her home after a break up of their relationship when he allegedly attacked her. According to a report on HeraldTribune.com, Slater stabbed Halbert in the arm, leg, and back. She was briefly hospitalized but has been released. Authorities found Slater at another home nearby, "apparently overdosed on pain medications he routinely takes for injuries suffered during his wrestling career," according to Sgt. George Edmiston. Halbert claimed that Slater threatened suicide after the attack. Slater was a regular in many Southern-based territories in the 1970s and 1980s. He had runs in the WWF as Dick "The Rebel" Slater in the late 1980s and WCW under the Bill Watts regime in the early 1990s.
