WWE - Positives of 2003

Recommended Posts

Guest Anglesault
I'm not going to turn this into a Goldberg thread, yet again, just because some hate him so much they feel they must shout it out at every chance given to them.

I'll just say, as I've said all along, that from day one WWE did not give him the right program to work with.

Well, what was the right thing? They made him a sympathetic babyface. It's like a surefire thing with 99 % of the guys.

I don't want to turn this thread into a Goldberg discussion but....

Having him feud with the Rock is not the right program?! How the hell could you do much better than that when it comes to a feud?! Goldberg just couldn't make it work. That, coupled with his shitty attitude and the fact that he hasn't brought in many additional buyrates or TV ratings, is what has made him a failure.

Positive of 2003: Goldberg losing the Heavyweight Title.

Goldberg doesn't work as a sympathetic babyface - he works as a dominating babyface monster... and like HHH said "He doesn't have 200 guys willing to lie down for him" in the WWE.

And good for them.

If he can't work as a sympathetic babyface, he's useless.

Having The Rock vs. just about anyone else in the WORLD, is going to end up not working right if the guy you have going up against The Rock is a face.

I can't see how anyone could think that The Rock vs. Goldberg was the right program to have Goldberg to work the very first thing in WWE. You had The Rock, long time WWE superstar, over as hell as either a face and a heel who can be cheered at ANY moment, taking on Goldberg, the WWE outsider, the guy from WCW who had always been talked about in a very bad light in WWE before he became a part of them.

That was the worst idea that they could have come up with for Goldberg to do VERY FIRST THING. I don't think anyone here, or anywhere, expected him to actuall get cheered OVER WWE's boy, Rocky...even as a "heel".

Fine, the evil empire conspired against him by having a new top face feud with the top heel because they expected someone who was going to save the company to get cheered or whatever.

Then what the hell happened at Bad Blood?

They fed Jericho to Goldberg instead of giving Billy Boy the title. :P

I've already said that they fucked Goldberg over from the very begining. They started him out on the wrong foot, it was very hard for him to EVER recover from how they first treated him and what they did with him to start with.

I'm surprised they finally attempted, even if for a short while, to push him more like Goldberg.

They way he started his WWE career, it was more like he was a total outsider to WWE, to everyone in the company, and to the fans. What they should have done is started off slow with him, going against lower card guys (not all of them, just a few basic programs), in order to show to the WWE fans that he was not an outsider, he was now a part of the company, and for them to shed away the image they forced upon him for so many years before.

But no, they put him in there with Mr. Rocky, WWE superstar of all time. Yeah, that was just going to work.

They are either fucking retarded, or they wanted Goldberg to be humbled at the start of his WWE tenure.

But a program with a lower carder would require selling.

THAT WOULD BE THE DEATH OF HIM~!

The best thing that happened is the return of Lita! I am glad that she was able to come back healthy after 16 months of rehab.

Goldberg should of came in and Squashed guys like (Test,Christian,Storm and Rico) in April.

1st Week-Test

2nd-Christian

3rd-Storm

4th-Rico

In May he should've started a feud with (3MW)Rosie/Jamal/Rico.

Then at Judgement Day it should have been a Elimination Handicap Match.

Goldberg vs Rico/Rosie/Jamal.

Jamal goes,Rico goes and Then Rosie goes.(Well dont really matter)

This shows his strengths and toughness.

In June Squash(Nowinski,Nowinski again(Nowinski wanted a rematch), and Chief Moorley)

1st Week-Nowinski

2nd-Nowinki

3rd-Chief

Chief wants revenge on Goldberg so he puts him in a Handicap Match against Dudleyz on Raw. Goldberg squashes them both.

In July we got a storyline. Someone runs over "Goldberg".Who? Keep reading and You'll know.

Well Goldberg dosen't show up on Raw in July.(Injury)

August comes around and Goldberg returns. He comes out and Cuts a promo. He wana know who ran him over. The Rock music hits and He says he did it and He talks about why he ran him over.

Goldberg wants him on Raw(Tonight) and The Rock says no he's going back to Hollywood tonight.Goldberg says what about Summerslam? Rock says he will be in Hollywood all month. The Rock says what about the biggest stage of them all? Wrestlemania! Goldberg says "You're on"! *SPEARS ROCK* and Leaves.

2nd-Goldberg dont show up.

Goldberg/Christian start to feud in the 3rd week of August.Christian talks about he's the "NEW PEOPLES CHAMPION" and He's gona start kicking his ass just like Rock is gona do at Wrestlemania.

At Summerslam Goldberg def Christian and Becomes the New IC Champion.

In September he starts a feud with Steiner over the IC Title.Steiner thinks he's a joke as IC Champion and He wants the title.

1st Week-Squash Test

2nd-Handicap Match-Squash Test again

3rd-Squash Steven Richards

Retains IC Title at Unforgiven.

Night after Unforgiven a *NEW* challenger for the IC Championship has come.MARK HENRY!

Raw-Squashes Steven Richards

2nd Week-Rico

3rd Week-Conway

4th-Goldberg Retains IC Title.

In October he don't defend the title.

So now Goldberg is only the World Heavyweight Champion.

In Janurary HHH/Goldberg continue to feud.

2nd Week-No Match

At Royal Rumble Goldberg retains the World Heavyweight Championship.

In Feburary The Rock returns and Then him and Goldberg beings to feud.(Now the World Title is on the line).

WM XX Comes and They have their match.Who wins? I'll just have Goldberg retain and at Backlash Rock gets his win and Become World Champ and In May(When he will probally leave again) Kane will def Rock for the World Title.

and for Goldberg? He can start new feuds with more bigger names like Kane,HBK and Booker T.(Let's just say Booker T is heel in 2004

Then Eric/Heyman do some trades.

Brock/Big Show to Raw.

Y2J/RVD to Smackdown.

Goldberg shouldn't have came in and Headline a PPV with Raw biggest player. He shouldn't of got bashed with Chairs . He shouldn't of let Goldust put a wig on his head.He shouldn't of been shown talking on a cellphone. He should have been in less segments. He shouldn't of drinked beer with Stone Cold.He shouldn't of got beat down in

a cage.He shouldn't have came in and Start feud with 2 big names like Chris Jericho and The Rock. Then move up to the World Champion,Triple H.

He should have came in squash jobbers a couple of months. Then get the Intercontinental Championship. Then World Championship. Then retain at the big one and Then finally job after 1 year being in WWE. Then move up to bigger feuds.

Im done.

Jericho and Austin worked well against Rock, but he was the face. His heel character is really dynamic and has a lot more depth, which is really the problem. People liked the arrogance and the wit.

And Goldberg's a challenge to book. You can't come to close to imitating the WCW push, or else you risk the re-hash. You have to balance each guy he's against with his no-selling and power. IMO, most of rhe aura of building him up again is gone, and he'd have to step right in with the big cats. Especially if you're looking to get money out of him with as little risk, you've got to push him right in. And you're skating on thin ice, because who knows who you can afford to sacrifice, how much you can take away from the big guys, and what you can take away from Goldberg. Like I said, it's risky.

So, sacrifice the whole roster for the sake of one guy, because, Hell, it worked in 1998!

And what if, you know, it bombed like it did in 2000?

What do you have now? A show full of jobbers and jokes.

Like I said, it's hard it's extremely difficult to book him. Who can you risk, how much, is it too WCW, how much can Goldberg take, will he have any long-term, will it leave anyone for the long-term, is it worth the money, is the money worth the risk, etc.

No man.

Nice argument.

Anyway, Goldberg don't give Goldberg anymore than he wants. Otherwise, he'll be spoiled and throw another tantrum. He hasn't changed a bit since 98.

Ugh. Those weren't positives at all. What good is the US TItle doing right now? A big fat nothing. IC Title? When it was with Christian, it did nothing. It could of, but alas, no. With RVD, it did even less. With Orton, maybe it'll actually get attention, but for now, it's just another title that's just there to show Evolution dominance. Individually, it's worth dick shit.

Well, when the product has absolutely no redeeming qualities whatsoever, why watch? "Force of habit" is about the only reason I can come up with for why I've continued to watch WWE in recent months, so maybe a clean breakaway would do me some good... :P

Not to mention they changed the look of the US title - one of the best looking titles ever, and didn't change the look of the IC title - one of the worst looking titles ever.

Dumb Fucks.

Personally, my problem is that they get all the titles with old WWF history behind it on the show with the fake title, while the Real Title is on the show with newly made belts WWF/E wise.
