WWE - Positives of 2003

Recommended Posts

But fighting for the IC title *is* fighting for nothing - it has no worth, no value. It means nothing and it doesn't do anything. The WWE still sucks dick, even with the titles, and they didn't suck dick because they didn't have the midcard titles last year; they sucked dick because they sucked dick. They sucked dick when they had a dozen titles, or when they had 6 or 7; they simply do not know how to use titles effectively nor do they want to put the effort in. They don't know how to use the midcard properly. They only care about the guys on top and the McMahons.

I'd rather see Midcarder X with gold than without it. No midcard titles at all is just fucking retarded.

A midcard title with no value is retarded as well. Infact, when a worker like Booker T or RVD or Eddie Guerrero holds a midcard title when they shouldn't - this says to the crowd "they're not worth it; they are not at the ME level". So really, when used like that (and it often is) a midcard title is damaging.

I agree that the IC title has been next to worthless since it has returned. WWE needed to have a upper-midcard star hold the title first and hold it for a LONG FUCKING TIME to establish the belt. You cant retire a belt for 9 months and expect it to have the same aura as it did before it was retired.

Most world champions were midcard champions first. I don't want anybody else being another Brock Lesnar.

And then they moved on!

RVD lost the IC title in September of 02.

I'm sure he moved on to the world ttleand hada successful reign and a couple feuds over it by September 2003...

Or, maybe he was feuding for the IC title again. Shall we check?

RVD has been at the same EXACT level with 0 elevation for 2 and a half years.

You cant tell me the "santa's Little Helper" contest was a waste of time.

Get a girlfriend.

A good one will let you see her boobies without having to see Rikishi's ass as well.

Not to start that debate again, but RVD is on a level as high as he deserves to be. Any elevation beyond IC title level would be detrimental to my enjoyment of the product. No one in the WWE half asses it as much as Rob. Not Triple H. Not Mark Henry. No one.

Yeah, at last Henry can put some emotion into matches. Granted, it's 'generic angry hoss doing big power moves' emotion...but it's emotion.

RVD is obviously not happy with where he is, so WWE should just either elevate him or get rid of him. Seeing as he's already unhappy at the company, AND been vocal about it, the first one seems more likely.

Positive for 2003 was that Big Show was tolerable again.

It's a vicious cycle, really. RVD is half assing it because they refuse to elevate him, and they can start using the fact that he's half assing it as an excuse to keep doing nothing for him.

I was just pointing out to Rico that 2 and a half years in the exact same spot in the company and just winning and losing the same midcard belt over and over again is not the same as winning a belt on your way up to the title.

My positives.

1. The return of Kurt Angle, and his ability to STILL put on good to great matches after the injury.

2. The first few weeks of the U.S. Title was great as well.

3. Team Angle.

4. Kane losing the mask and making people CARE.

When did the caring part happen?

When the ratings went up before Shane ruined it all.

Most world champions were midcard champions first. I don't want anybody else being another Brock Lesnar.

What does this have to do with anything?

To me, anybody who becomes a world champion should at least win the midcard title first to establish himself. I'm a fan of Brock, but I didn't like his superpush and I didn't like that he didn't get the IC title first. He just went on to be WWE Champion ala Hulk Hogan.
