The NCAA 2004 Dynasty Thread

Recommended Posts

Post your current or new dynasties that you are running or going to create.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Getting tired of playing and dominating as Penn State I started a new Dynasty as the University of Maine Black Bears.

Difficulty - All American

Quarter Length - 5 minutes

Prestige - *

Playbook - Run and Gun

Best overall player - 72 HB

First game of the season was my 117th ranked Black Bears against #5 Kansas State. I actually jumped ahead 14-0 on a interception return for a TD and a good 57 yard drive to end the 1st quarter.

Then... the shit went down. I managed to hold them to a respectable 68 yards rushing so on that front I was doing well until they decided they will just stop running the ball for the remainder of the game. Keep in mind that my CB's ratings at 56, 62, 67 and 58. FS is 64 and SS 57. K-State went to the Shotgun in the 2nd quarter but none of my DB's could match their #1 and 2 recievers. First play of the second quarter was a post 72 yards for a TD. 3 and out on the next drive for Maine. Punted to K-State and they started from their 34. Easy way to put this drive would be 3 plays, 66 yards, TD.

14-14

My next possesion ended with a FG. 17-14 Maine.

Got K-State to 3 and 7 and they proceed to burn me for a 40 yard gain for a 1st down. My secondary is just crumbling. Man coverage... zone... double slots... K-State's receivers just outmatch me at all points. TD K-State and it went down hill from there. I did manage to score another TD but finished the game losing 37-24.

0-1

Second game was against UAB and since we are both lowly ranked I managed to have a good game and beat them 24-7.

1-1 - Went up to #113

Third game was against UAAM (University of Alamaba A&M) and I just blew them out 56-14.

2-1 - Now ranked #72

Fourth game is #72 Maine against #52 Marshall. This was a pretty back and forth game but very sloppy. Picked of the Marshall QB 5 times but I lost 2 fumbles and threw 2 INTs of my own. Managed to beat them 21-17.

3-1 - Now ranked #56 and my next game will be against the #26th ranked Cornhuskers. Should be fun.

Ehh...I've been playing mine too long to do this.

Michigan Wolverines

-won the championship 4 straight seasons.

-50something and zero record.

-won the heisman (sp) ever year. Plus tons of other individual awards.

-set on hardest difficulty the last 2 seasons

-My QB (Sebastian Moss) just set the college all time yards and TD records

-Times punted: 0

-In current season have 4 of the 5 Heismen hopefuls, including the top 3

I'm bored with the game, I may start again with a wussy team on the hardest setting.

I will after I wrap up my next season...although I refuse to drop my "no punting" rule

Same way here with Penn State. But if I were to not punt as Maine against K-State... the score would probably have been much... MUCH higher against me.

UCLA Bruins - 34-0, 8 games into my third season.

2003 season - went 12-0, Tyler Ebell wins the Heisman, defeated Miami in Sugar Bowl.

2004 season - 12-0, Craig Bragg wins Heisman, defeated Miami in Orange Bowl, turned down offer to coach Tennessee, Bragg sets NCAA record for most recieving yardage in season; Drew Olson sets NCAA record with 55 touchdown passes then turns pro after his junior year.

2005 season - 8-0 so far, put it on hold so I could play the bowl games, after this season I am going to switch to a mid-major school, UCLA has a decent prestige level to begin with so it's ridiculously easy to get top-5 recruiting classes. The only interesting things about this season - Ebell was hurt for three games so that might cost him the Heisman, and I have a QB controversy - between dropback passer Matt Moore and scrambler Stuart Fowler. I threw five picks with Fowler in the first game and replaced him with Moore, Moore has been good but Fowler has been just as good if not better when I do play him, so I might go back to Fowler.

I made a team called Montana Black Widows. We started the season ranked 1st. Is there something wrong with this picture? Anyways we won the championship. Will make a new team and update in depth in the near future.

My Dynasty: Harvard(!) *I replaced Troy State in the Independents*

Difficulty: All-American(Currently: Varsity), 5 Minute Q's w/Penalties

Current Rank: 117

My Schedule is as follows

1: Open

2: @ Iowa(Loss: 12-0. Managed 143 yards passing and 7(!) sacks but their blitzes killed me as well as the lack of a running game(stupid QB doing the lateral motion but not lateraling the ball). Improved to #113 in the National Rankings via upsets I assume

3: @ Minnesota(Loss: 28-3. Defense was yet again solid with 2 INT's and 2 Sacks, holding their RB to "only" 121 yards rushing but my offense was horrible, 113 total yards and my QB threw 3 INT's. Managed 90 yards passing and 23 yards rushing. I might just have to knock it down a level.)

4: @ Rice(What a fucking game! Win: 34-27 in Double OT! Only scored 359  Rice manages to lead 24-21(I scored my first 2 TD's by INT returns then my RB decided to show up). They go for another FG while leading 24-21, it hits the middle of the center post dead on and bounces back onto the field! I Hit the FG to tie it at 24-24. First OT, I play defense first and give up the FG, 27-24. Hit a 33 yard FG to tie it up, 27-27. I get the ball first in double OT and my RB just runs all over their defense. I cap it off with a 5 yard scamper by the FB and hit the PAT, 34-27. It comes down to 4th and 8, Rice has it around the 13 yard line. The QB tosses it, receiver has my defender beat but the ball is overthrown! Damn good game for my first win of the season). Improved to a National Ranking of #102

5: Arizona(Loss: 52-13...just not a good game heh. I managed to throw for 176 yards but that was the lone highlight as they just ran it down my throat). I've fallen down to a #110 ranking now.

6: Marshall(Win: 17-14 thanks to a HUGE day from my defense. 3 Sacks, 1 INT returned for a TD and 2 forced & recovered fumbles, 1 of which was returned for a TD. My offense continues to be miserable however with only 166 total yards of offense.) I've leaped up to a rank of #85 now after the win.

7: @ #22 Nebraska(Simmed: Lost 37-3...blech. My D remains solid as my star MLB had 14 tackes, 3 for losses.) Dropped to #98 on the National Rankings chart.

8: North Carolina

9: @ Kentucky

10: Umass

11: Louisiana Tech

12: Open

13: @ Notre Dame

14: Clemson

15: Open

Oh boy....I'll update this post probably with each game played.

Virginia Tech, just finished my first season 13-0 and Orange Bowl Champion over Notre Dame as I was the odd man out, being from the Big East, as Oklahoma and Ohio St. met for the title.

I've been playing on all-american difficulty, 8 minute quarters.

The game's been great so far, with one major exception: injuries.

Va Tech is a running, option, defense-oriented, aggressive team. They aren't known for passing, rather the speed of their halfbacks and qb's.

But, obviously o one has heard of their ability to get injured easily.

My top qb was injured in the second week..he was knocked out for the entire you with a torn rotator cuff. Brutal, yeah. Understandable, yeah.

Next week, not even 2 minutes into the game, Mr. Marcus Vick, the Falcon's qb's younger brother, tries running the option and BAM~! he gets planted into the ground and is out for 11 weeks with a torn shoulder muscle.

WTF is that?

I'm not just complaining about the qb's though as it's just a bit of bad luck...but c'mon, EVERYONE who was injured was either out for only a few minutes, the game, OR THE FUCKING SEASON.

This makes nooooo sense.

Fortunately, I wasn't as screwed as one might have thought. Va Tech only has 2 qb's, thus, WR's are used as the backups. Since we don't need to pass, I'd have Kevin Jones bust through the line for 300 yards a game, and when he's tired, I'd let the wr's scramble for a 20 or so each time.

The Hail Mary plays became instant first downs especially after one receiver went out(fractured ankle...yeesh), so my heisman trophy-winning running back would be the qb on the play where 5 wideouts go deep. Needless to say, little Jimmy did very well, even against the toughest competition.

Only problem with this routine of scrambling wide receiver 'qb's' was that when Marcus Vick came back just in time for the Orange Bowl, it was sorta hard to learn to pass again and get a normal rhyme going, especially since he sucks at throwing, and he (like all other quarter backs) fumbles all the freaking time. I change d a bunch of formation to purposely put the receivers in for him soon after...

The BCS screwed me over, neither Ohio St., nor Oklahoma is better than me, but because they are in the Big 10/12 and ranked higher in the pre season polls, they got the nod (GRRR). I beat Miami, Pitt, BC, and Virginia, all top 25 teams and that helped me achieve NOTHING. (double GRRRR)

Only other annoying thing is the stamina stuff...maybe it's just my team, but after 3 plays, people get tired, and have to come out. My RB woulda had a bunch more touchdowns had he not always come out just as I got to the redzone and other people taken his place...

Few other notables:

- one linebacker had 9 sacks in one game (TEMPLE IS MY BITCH~!), the team had 14 in all. That LB had 29, including the Orange Bowl, and NCAA record.

- my running back had a high of 476 rushing yards in one game (STREAMROLLIN' RIGHT THROUGH RUTGERS, BABY!)

- for the year, I gave up a total of -18 rushing yards total.

overall... a damn good game

How about a basketball dynasty?

I'm in my first year as UMass and my next game is against Temple in the semis of the A-10 tournament. I probably have to win the confrence title to make the Big Dance since I've lost some games to some pretty shitty teams (I simmed and lost twice to the worst team in the confrence, getting blown out in the second game, and I played REALLY bad against Long Beach State, losing by 15 or so).

The problem with my team is that I have ONE good three point shooter, and I love shooting threes. My defense is solid, but I get burned by the fast break way too often.

My center is a 1st Team Defensive player, leading the nation in blocks per game. #12, my senior point guard, provides most of the points, averaging about 20 ppg.

Jimbo, if you're using the option a lot be prepared for your QB's to get hurt a lot. My brother has had dynasties with Navy and Air Force. In the Navy dynasty Candeto was out for half the season; in the Air Force one Harridge missed a couple of games. A couple of times with UCLA I've used the option as a change-up and wound up getting my QB's knocked out for the game. In exhibition games I've lost QB's on option plays very often, it's easier for the defenders to get the big hit and knock them out of the game.

Well I was playing as OU. I began the season and beat North Texas 80-0. Then the game messed up. Now I have to return it.

I kind of want to build a program from the ground up but I can't think of a school I like that sucks.

I had one of my top WR injured in the 3rd game with a fucking BROKEN VERTEBRAE. Obviously he's out for the year.

I couldn't believe that injury was in the game. I'm not sure if that guy is going to come back or what.

Hmm....but what kind of a team am I going to make from Oklahoma? Oklahoma Tech? Oklahoma A&M? We don't have any of those schools.......just OSU, OU, and Tulsa.

Well what happened to my game was that I started playing dynasty. I beat my first game with OU. I go to leave the game and it starts skipping. Tells me the disc is messed up. So I think "Ok....." and restart it. I try to load my dynasty. Won't load. I get mad and then look at the disc and clean it. Not a scratch on it. Looks perfectly brand new. Put it back in and try to start a new dynasty. Doesn't work. Still skips. Shit.........I call GameStop and they agree to switch it out tomorrow. A-holes........

or Oklahoma City State University, the mascots being the Unabombers? Are we allowed to joke about that kind of thing? If not sorry.

It's not really a sensitive subject for me.....but it might be for others. I dunno.......our Minor League Baseball Team is called the Red Hawks. I may just creat the Oklahoma A&M RedHawks.

Well I am playing Dynasty with OU. I just got the game and I'm not very good so I set the difficulty on Junior Varsity.

Anyways I shut out North Texas 64-0 in my first game. Next game is against #9 ranked USC.

I'm ranked 2 in the AP and 1 in the Coaches. Does this thing have a BCS?

I am creating a team. The Oklahoma A&M RedHawks. I'm kind of dissapointed in the lack of logos.......hmm.....

Maybe I'm just a terrible special teams player or I just pick teams iwth crappy puneters/kickers, but it seems that in both EA football games this year I have had a horrific time punting-- anyone else experiencing this?

The ball always goes to the side, out of bounds and barely 30. I can't even make PAT's in the NCAA game it's so bad...it always curves off and totally misses, or hits the post.

I hardly ever kick now, so it's alright, but when I'm in a jam, it wold be nice to be able to actually kick the ball...that's probably why my red zone percentage was so low...like 56% or somethign because I only went for touchdowns as kicking field goals was pointless.

Ok so I embarassed North Texas(unranked) 64-0. I embarassed USC 65-7(ranked 14). And I had a good game with Florida(ranked 10) that finally ended in about 65-21.

And I am STILL ranked behind Ohio State. And I'm not even the top team in the Big XII!!! I'm behind K-State. I'm confused....I've beaten pretty much nothing but good teams and they've played a lot of unranked teams.

Oh well...my next game is against #21 Arizona State Sun Devils.

I've got a question. How the hell do I control my QB!? I snap the ball and he drops back but I don't control him. I can move him but he throws to whoever he wants however he wants. I'm sitting there looking for a reciever and I see one and he just turns and let's it fly in the opposite direction with double man coverage!! How do I control him?

Oh and is it just me.....or do Corso's picks suck?

I just got this yesterday.

Dynasty Mode with Miami (OH) on Varsity.

1st game: loss 38-28 to Iowa as my defensive line just wasn't good enough to stop the Iowa running back. On the bright side Rothlisberger threw for 336 yds. and 2 TDs and Michael Larkin had about 9 receptions for 240 yds. and 2 TDs. Next game should be an easy route if I can hang with a superior team like Iowa.

Each receiver has a button beneath him, press that button to throw to him. Example: You're playing as BC and you want to throw to Derrick Knight and he has an R beneath his body. Press the R button and you'll throw to him. Also if you don't move around a little after he snaps the ball, the CPU takes control.

Yeah I know. But he drops back to pass. I'm looking for who I want to pass to. And he just throws on his own before I get a chance to press any buttons.
