Matt Young Posted January 3, 2004 Report Posted January 3, 2004 This may not be worth starting a topic about, but I found it amusing. I'm currently listening to "Mono", the new single from everyone's favorite obnoxious, loudmouthed, drugged-out, fuck- Randy-Orton-she's-the-real-legend-killer... blah blah etc.- Courtney Love. I've noticed over the last couple years that Brodie Armstrong, the gorgeous Australian-born lead singer of The Distillers, sounds like Love when she sings and was obviously influenced somewhat by Hole (a band which, I'll admit, had a few really good songs). Still, The Distillers are a much better band than Hole ever was, so that's not a knock. Now, on this latest release, we have Courtney Love sounding like she's trying to imitate the Distillers, and in the end it comes out as a horrible, third rate knockoff that shows me that if this single is any indication, Courtney Love's musical quality has taken a complete 180 in the last 10 years since Hole first broke through into the mainstream. That's not what the topic was about per se, but still... it's funny. Karma + heroin + failing movie career= this shit.
2GOLD Posted January 3, 2004 Report Posted January 3, 2004 What legend did she kill? Cause I don't recall her killing anyone although some like to blame her for killing a certain overrated singer who did himself in. Now YOKO, that is a legend killer Yoko> Love
1234-5678 Posted January 3, 2004 Report Posted January 3, 2004 Now YOKO, that is a legend killer Yoko> Love I thought Mark David Chapman did it? On a side note, why do all these killers always have three names: James Earl Ray, Lee Harvey Oswald, Jeffrey Fucking Dahmer........
Matt Young Posted January 3, 2004 Author Report Posted January 3, 2004 Don't forget John Wilkes Booth. He killed the one person that my hometown is famous for, forever dooming the capital city of Illinois to be a forgotten, boring wasteland.
Giuseppe Zangara Posted January 3, 2004 Report Posted January 3, 2004 Now YOKO, that is a legend killer Shut up, already. Speaking of Yoko Ono, I saw her speak at the CMJ Fest in NYC back in October, and, when they got to the Q&A session, someone asked her how she felt whenever anyone accused her of breaking up the Beatles. Everyone started booing, until Yoko just shrugged her shoulders and said, "Fact's a fact. I did break up the Beatles."
Sonic Reducer Posted January 3, 2004 Report Posted January 3, 2004 You mean she did a rapid 360. She's always sounded like shit. Maybe for one split second she sounded good .. but thats it.
spiny norman Posted January 4, 2004 Report Posted January 4, 2004 Yes, I don't get all the Yoko hate. While I dislike her music and I don't like her artwork, she made Lennon the legend and to say she destroyed it is ludicrous. She introduced him into all these alternate thinking. Without her some of the greatest songs ever written wouldn't have been. Like her or not, she is not a legend killer and to say that is ignorant and it seems your way of thinking was "Everyone puts trash on Yoko, why don't I do the same?"
Guest Doyo Posted January 4, 2004 Report Posted January 4, 2004 Cause I don't recall her killing anyone although some like to blame her for killing a certain overrated singer who did himself in. So you were there to witness the guy with 3 times the lethal dose of heroin in his body roll down his sleeves and then shoot himself and then move the shotgun shell to the opposite side of where it landed?

Shh, we're only aloud to mention Kurt Cobain/Nirvana if we're going to bash them. /sarcasm
