SD House Show Results from 1/04/03

Recommended Posts

Scotty 2 Hotty def. Nunzio with the Worm

Paul Heyman comes down and cuts a heel promo on Albuquerque getting the usual heat. John Cena then comes down and defends the city and its people and asks the audience if he should kick Heyman's ass. Of course, the crowd goes bananas. Cena then put the mic down and grabs Heyman. Before he can do anything, he is quickly ambushed by Rhyno and The Big Show. Heyman laughs and states that Cena will take on The Big Show with the U.S. title on the line. After they leave, Cena gets up and vows to win the U.S. Title tonight.

Jamie Noble def. The Cat (w/ Lamont) using rope leverage.

(Match of The Night)

TWGTT def. Spanky & Paul London after Benjamin nailed London with the Superkick.

Hardcore Holly and Bradshaw def. A-Train and Matt Morgan after Holly nailed Morgan with the Alabama Slam.

Triple Threat Cruiserweight Title Match

Rey Mysterio def. Billy Kidman and Tajiri after nailing Tajiri with the West Coast Pop.

After the match, Rey tries to make it up to Billy after miscommunication earlier in the match (it seemed like a handicapped match at first before it went triple threat due to the usual accidental hit) and extends his hand. Billy shakes it and everything seems fine. Once Rey turns his back to go leave, Billy attacks from behind. Rey fights him off before managing to nail him with the 619 which sends Kidman to the other side of the ring ropes where he gets nailed with a 2nd 619. Rey then leaves after Billy learns his lesson.

Submission Match

Chris Benoit def. Chuck Palumbo (w/ Johnny Stamboli) with the Crippler Crossface.

Bikini Challenge

Dawn Marie def. Nidia and Sable

Dawn was dressed in leapord two piece. Nidia's still blind and was wearing a pink two piece. Sable was in a blue two piece, but was covered in a black robe. Sable cuts a promo saying she was good to show Albuquerque her stuff. After Dawn gave Tony Chimmel a lap dance. she was declared the winner, she tackled Sable and confiscared the robe to much audience approval.

Before the next match starts, Chavo comes out, grabs the mic, and tells everyone and Eddie that he was sorry about what he did on the last SD. He wasn't thinking straight and he shouldn't have done that. He wishes to apologize to Eddie and start back from scratch. Eddie comes out and tells everyone and Chavo that blood is thicker than water and family is more important to him than gold. They hug and everything is cool.

Eddie nails one of the Kyo Dai members with the Frog Splash eliminating them first. Eddie and Chavo get into an argument a little later on and Chavo deserts Eddie. Eddie manages to last 10 minutes before he gets pinned.

Triple Threat WWE Tag Team Championship Elimination Match

Los Guerreros def. Kyo Dai with the Frog Splash

The Basham Bros. (w/ Shaniqua) def. Los Guerreros with The Ball and Chain

United States Title Match

The Big Show def. John Cena with the Chokeslam following interence from Brock Lesnar.

After the match, Big Show gets the mic and belittles Cena. Rey Mysterio then comes out and starts beating on Big Show until Cena recovers and beats up Big Show too. After Big Show leaves, both Rey and Cena get mics. Rey asks Cena to throw a freestyle. Cena insists Rey should do one since Albuquerque is comprised mostly of Rey's people. Rey does a little freestyle and then throw a Spanish line that pleases the crowd. They get a little boy from ringside. Its his birthday. Cena and Rey congratulate him and highfive him. Cena then throws his freestyle (making fun of Big Show) and the crowd goes home happy.

Some minor notes:

- Noble came out to his previous theme, but when he won the match, they played his current theme.

- The Cat played the face and his theme is fucking horrible.

- Tajiri came out to his previous theme.

- Chris Benoit suffered a nasty gash on his head which covered his scalp with blood and some running down the left side.

- Benoit received loud "Benoit" chants from the audience and latched on the Sharpshooter for an attempted win before Stamboli interfered.

- Chavo received loud "Chavo" chants from the audience during the match before he left Eddie to fend for himself.

- Eddie received a standing ovation after the match

- Best sign of the night that I saw was "Best Career Move: Lose Chavo"

Yeah, the U.S. title was actually defended for once! I was shocked.

TWGTT / Spanky-London was fucking awesome. It was spotty and technical. Lots of false finishes. Just great stuff to watch, hope to see it again on TV soon.

Sounds a lot like the Nashville houseshow that happened tonight. Except for the London/Spanky vs. WGTT, the night was a bust. Plus the small crowd didn't help matters either.

How was TWGTT/LondonSpanky?

Another question regarding TWGTT/Spanky-London - how long did it go?

If it went more than ten minutes, I'd imagine it being a great match. How was the crowd response to London/Spanky? Are they getting over well enough at house shows?

Thanks for the info! Hope to see that match on Smackdown, or even Velocity, shortly! :headbang:

Good question. Some of the matches had a ten minute limit others had an hour. And Tony would announce either how many minutes into the it went or how many minutes remained.

The tag match went pretty long. I'd say 10 - 15 minutes. TWGTT got the proper boos. Spanky / London were very well over. The crowd was into the match a lot. Its just a sight to see. I highly recommend anybody in the arena to check it out if a show comes to you.

I live less then an hour from Nashville and I could have gone to that SD house show but, really I didn't feel like sending money it with the way the WWE has been lately. But, I bet I could have gotten them for cheap.

Who is Kyo Dai?

I'm guessing Jimmy "Akio" Yang and Sakoda.

Correct.

I always thought having Smackdown house shows on Monday nights was a stupid idea, and it shows. Usually the Monday show draws the least out of all three weekend SD shows.

I remember one Monday show that was just before SD toured Europe in October where the agents just said "fuck it" due to the poor turnout and Brock/Cena/Angle lasted all of four minutes.
