The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted January 9, 2004 Side note: BGSU's only losses were to top 10 teams too. So that point is moot on your end.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted January 9, 2004 BGSU would have smoked the team that showed up to play against Kansas State. You're making the same mistake that all the teams that mid majors beat make... thinking you're always going to beat a team your better than. If that always happened...we wouldn't have sports. Yes but if it had happened during the season in place of oh say.....Fresno State then Bowling Green would've been smoked. Because OU was stomping on everything in it's path. It's becoming apparent that the only OU you've seen is the KSU game(which they sucked in) and the LSU game(where the LSU defense shut down OU's offense) because otherwise you'd realize what a good team they are. But as it is you seem to think they can't beat anyone without some kind of luck.
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted January 9, 2004 Mid Major teams would have came in like KState, not believing the hype and power of OU and would have at the very least made it a game. The MAC gets no respect from anyone and it's a damn shame. The MAC is the most fun conference period.

The MAC gets no respect from anyone and it's a damn shame. The MAC is the most fun conference period. I still think the K-State game was an aberration. It was OU coming in thinking that they had the game in the bag and K-State thinking "Let's kick some ass!" and OU got surprised and knocked on their ass for it. However the LSU game was just OU getting beaten by a better team.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted January 9, 2004 Oh and BPS please tell me who you think OU can beat. B/c it seems you don't think they can beat anyone. So who can they beat?
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted January 9, 2004 And the MAC would have been treated like KState, like the game was in the bag....which is what my point was. The MAC is looked at like the little brother of Div I. The MAC has a way lately of seeing these big schools and not being scared by them. I don't know if a MAC team would have beaten OU, but I damn well know they would have made it a close game.

But I don't think they would've won It'd be like a big guy laying on the ground getting pounded on and then going "Wait I'm bigger than this twerp!" and tossing him off. The K-State game was OU walking up to someone sitting down and bitch slapping him and the guy standing up and turning out to be 5 feet taller than OU. Secret Agent 0 Report post Posted January 9, 2004 Since your on the subject... not really but ok. How about we toss sorry ass Baylor out of the Big 12 and replace them with Tulsa University? If you want to talk about a team that gets no respect and did fairly well this year, look there. Oh and Bowling Green, sorry, but OSU would have beat them this year. Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted January 9, 2004 Baylor's an easy win, and improves the graduation rate.
sfaJack 0 Report post Posted January 9, 2004 With the exception of football (well, and the now-disgraced men's basketball team), Baylor is pretty competitive in the Big 12. Their athletic program as a whole has won several championships since joining the Big 12...it's just because their football team is so poor that they have a bad reputation. It isn't as if Baylor can't become a good football program again. They've made some pitiful coaching hires since Grant Teaff left, which has destroyed the program. Given the right guy running things, Baylor can and probably will be competitive in Big 12 football. They might never be a year-in-year-out powerhouse, but a Texas Tech-level of success is attainable, and there's nothing wrong with that.
Fökai 0 Report post Posted January 10, 2004 They couldn't get done for January 25th like the article said, but they should be able to get it done within a month. Following week is the Super Bowl. Week after THAT is the Pro Bowl. January 25th would be the only suitable week until early March (with the NBA and NHL All-Star weekends also in February) to get everyone's attention focused on that game, and that game alone. The NCAA isn't worried about IF they could do it, they just don't want it to happen. Even if it is for a good cause, you're compromising the rules of the game, as well as the other teams who would be livid at seeing a game that was worth TEN MILLION DOLLARS simply put on for the benefit of the two teams, thrown together at the last minute. Solution? Hope that this idea is implemented next year.

Gert T 0 Report post Posted January 10, 2004 The NCAA has to make a game after the BCS quick after the BCS games because seniors and those going to the NFL need to start preparing. I can't see that NFL personnel people will be happy seeing players in games all the way up until February. And some college scheduling is done almost 7-10 years in advance. I think Ohio State scheduled to play a home and home against Texas in 2006 & 2007 and they announced it back in 1998.

I guess they already have it they just don't want to tell me so I can't cancel my season tickets when I see half of those tickets go to watch teams like UTEP and such play. 2GOLD 0 Report post Posted January 10, 2004 Someone was willing to give up 30 million (for a good cause) for a football game? It's only a GAME. Are you kidding? Good cause yes, but imagine how much publicity the company would get? Sponsoring a battle between USC and LSU would easily rake in more than 30 million. It would have been the investment of a lifetime. Football isn't only a game, it's a cash cow.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted January 10, 2004 You... got.... season...tickets....for....a....NCAA... football....team? I can't decide if that's sarcastic or not......... And Secret Agent. I go to OU. They are very easy for me to buy. And they only cost me 130 bucks. As opposed to the 300-600 it cost the general public.

That's the nice thing about going to a school with a football program still on its way up: the games are free for students. And we win at home constantly anyway, so hey, fine by me.
