How to become a counselor/therapist

Recommended Posts

Since leaving university, I've decided that after 4 years, I don't really want to be a palaeontologist for the rest of my life. So, I've been trying to work out what I do want to do with my life.

The one thing I am good at is listening to people and helping them out with their problems, so I figured I might try to cet into therapy and the like. However, I haven't got any relevant qualifications, and I'm not sure what I need.

So, can anyone help me out? Any ideas of what I need and how I can get them? Any ideas are appreciated. Thanks.

It seems fairly obvious you have to go back to school for that.

I think the most successful therapists don't go to school at all.

Until a few days ago, I was TheManErnieRowe.

LIAR!~

Well I guess it makes some sense. Your post in the referenced thread about how great Creed was was so thoughtful and deep, that if I had posted I would include it in my sig as well. In fact, I think the whole board would be better if we enjoyed our own posts more than others'. We should all just put our own great posts in our signature.

But have it your way you Self-deprecating fucks.

Ch...I mean Royal Blue, you're pretty much gonna have to go back to school, get your degree in pyschology then get your masters and then PhD in it.

Perhaps with a palaentology degree, you could be a counselor for depressed palaentologists?

Yeah but you feel that Creed is a great band that gets unfair criticism so maybe it's a good thing that you're not a big fan of my attitude, hmm?

Mole: That's why a piece of me is lost forever. If that disturbs you; there's ones that are worse.....

You want to be a therapist, eh? Here are some helpful hints:

1. Lose all will to live.

2. Lose all will to live.

3. Lose all sexual drive.

4. Lose all will to live.

5. Realize your life is pointless.

6. Lose all will to live.

7. Go to school for Psychology. Study ass off.

8. Get Masters and PhD.

9. Lose all will to live.

10. Buy a gun and shoot yourself, because you've lost all will to live after hearing about people bitching about their mother every week.

Nah, it's not even that hard. Obviously there's the academic obstacles involved, which I haven't quite finished yet. However, the rest of it just involves sitting there, remaining both neutral and calm, and tuning out most of their bullshit, or else using it to judge their emotions. Suggest a certain course of medication, and collect a fucking mint.
