Christy Carlson Romano to Try Broadway

 

NEW YORK (AP) - Broadway's ``Beauty and the Beast'' has found its new Belle - on the Disney Channel.

 

Christy Carlson Romano is well known to fans of the television network. She portrays the super-striving Ren Stevens on its daytime series ``Even Stevens'' and is the voice of ``Kim Possible,'' a prime-time animated series about your average high school girl out to save the world - even on a school night.

 

The 19-year-old Romano will join the long-running musical Feb. 17. She is the 13th actress to play Belle since the musical opened in New York in April 1994. ``Beauty and the Beast,'' based on the celebrated animated film, will play performance No. 4,000 on Jan. 27.

 

The musical also will get a new Beast Feb. 17. Jeff McCarthy, last seen on Broadway in ``Urinetown,'' joins the show for eight weeks.

I caught Even Stevens during my vacation (gee, who would have thought that The Disney Channel would play at Disney resorts?) and I've gotta say, she's quite do-able, and is at least a Disney girl of age, so that we don't have another Hilary Duff fiasco on our hands.

As for the Hilary Duff legality issue, I've heard the rumors floating around that she may actually be older than she's put forth to be, just so Disney can keep that teen image healthy

Yes, Christy Carlson Romano is 19 years old, therefore, she is legally an adult in the United States of America. I'm 17, so I'm not so far behind her when it comes to age difference.

 

I am defintley going to try and get tickets to the Beauty and The Beast broadway show now. I checked the website, and tickets range from $25-$250.00. Hopefully, with money I saved, and convincing my parents to give me some more money, I should have enough to buy tickets. For a chance to see Christy Romano, live in a 2 hour and a half hour show? It's worth it.
