Public outcry over the last few years forced the Bayer Corporation into action, product manager Karen Lazan says. A piece in Spy magazine in late 1993 touched off a nationwide movement that was intensified when comedian Rosie O'Donnell, who played Betty in the 1993 movie version, complained to Connie Chung about her character's absence. Soon, Oregon's Betty Club (150 women named Betty) was circulating a petition, and three rockers from Atlanta had formed an alternative band called Betty's Not A Vitamin. Moved by the hue and cry, Bayer set up an 800-number in May to survey the public. They received over 17,000 calls, over 90 percent in support of Betty. Why was Betty left out when Flintstones Vitamins debuted in 1969, complete with chewable versions of Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm, Fred and Wilma, Betty's husband Barney, Dino, and the Flintmobile? "We think the main reason was that Betty had a really thin waist," says Lazan, explaining that the tablet kept breaking during production. Another suggestion is that the Betty figure looked an awful lot like the Wilma one. The new vitamins will picture Betty with her hands on her hips. So I rented it to get my fix of NCAA and getting screwed out of title shots. Then again, DeJap just recently got Star Ocean Patch 1.0 up, so I dropped NCAA for a bit to focus on what I've been waiting two years for. To play that game and see how well it stacks against the games of yore (that being FF3, CT and SoM). So far I beg to ask: Why the FUCK didn't that game come over? ...fuck, I'm sidetracking again... I swear to God if this fucking game was brought over then and given a chance it would've made a fucking dent in that messed up train of thought. I do even remember reading a v-game mag (I don't exactly remember which one) that told of it and how good this game was and how it was going to be an absolute blast when it came over. Did it? No. And I was disappointed that I missed out on a good game. So far, this is turning out to be a classic. And now I'm fucking pissed that I got screwed till now. God dammit.
