The Goodbye Girl

I only started watching because Alan Cumming is in it, but honestly, so far, it's quite funny.

Plus, it stars the Pepsi girl. She's quite funny as the 'get-real' teen daughter.

Yuna, nothing against you, but I think I'm kinda scared that someone actually took the time to make that animation of Orlando Bloom kissing Johnny Depp.

Gee, ya think? ;)

And he appears 41 minutes in the feature. But, oddly enough, I don't even mind. His prescence only enhances an already great movie. Unlike the lame piece of shit known as Romy and Michele's High School Reunion. That movie was just.........ugh. Alan's dance sequence at the end with Romy and Michele was worth the wait, though.

I think it shows dedication and effort ^_^

And a frightening obsession with male homosexuality.

Not really....just boys kissing. She made a site of .gifs of various fandoms smooching by manips. I don't know this girl [if it is a girl] personally, so I can't defend, or offend, her.

Speaking of gay........Jeff Daniels acting all foppish was just hilarious. And Alan acting all 'straight' as the director...just too amusing.

You are in denial if you honeslty do not see your frightening obsession with male homosexuality.

I am obsessed with gay men. Yes, I admit that, and I don't give a fuck.

Wow, that was great. Wonderful performances, very fine tv movie.

I totally agree. Jeff Daniels really surprised me here; his comedic lines were delivered so greatly. And the young girl was played very well; very realistic and all that....for some reason, I kept thinking of 'Curly Sue'. And, of course, Alan was great ^_^

But the woman....she really got on my nerves. It seemed like she'd cry at the drop of a hat. It got annoying after a while, to see her cry so much.

Basically, once the movie stopped being comedy and cared only for mushy-sappy-romance, it was just boring.

I think you really should give a fuck. You might learn a few things about who you really are.....like a gay man.

I should probably tell you all that this is a remake of a movie from 1977 based on the original Neil Simon stage play. Richard Dreyfuss starred in the original and became the youngest person at that time to win the Oscar for best lead actor. The popular rumor is that the Academy gave him the award only to piss of Richard Burton.

I'm pretty sure everyone knows that ...

Dont forget that the girl quinn cummings or whatever who played lucy in the original movie won the oscar for best supporting actress. This was a good scene for scene remake of the original.

A gay man trapped in a chick's body. Ja, sounds like a soap opera plot.

Actually, I would put even money on the fact that Yuna, who started the thread, didn't.

Right, so I'm dumb that I didn't know? Please...like I keep up with 70s movies.

There's a big difference between being dumb and simply being unaware. Seeing as how your tastes run toward gay anime and effeminate boys yet to wear out their first razor, I figured you would be the most unaware of this as a followup to an Oscar winning, critically acclaimed film that helped launched the career of Richard Dreyfuss and revitalize that of Neil Simon's. Seems I was right. It was OctoberBlood who figured everyone would already know that so take up your presumed stupidity with him. I am quite aware that you should never over estimate what common knowledge is where pop culture is concerned. There are so many people out there where ten years ago is a brick wall to them they won't go past. Not saying you're one of those people though, just musing on the subject.

I just figured most people knew that. Not only was it a decently well known film, but in the commericals, TNN showed 1000 times a night, it says something like "from a Neil Diamound Classic~!". Nobody called anyone stupid.

Er, yeah - I know who it is. I wasn't thinking straight. I've watched and enjoyed many Simon movies.

Stupid? Syeah, grow up kiddo.

That was cute. I don't really watch anime, though, and the guys I like are over 30 [Johnny Depp, Alan Cumming]

Actually, Alan Cumming is closer to 40, and Johnny's already past that.

But the real reason I'm posting is to say that that Neil Diamond comment was pretty damn funny.

Then my point has been made....they're both past their first razor ^_^
