Cruiserweight Battle Royal Likely For WMXX

Cruiserweight Battle Royal Likely For WMXX

No high profile singles match for the cruiserweight division...

The current plan regarding the cruiserweight wrestlers and WrestleMania XX is to throw them all into some type of gimmick battle royal. It is unlikely that WWE will give two cruiserweights a singles match on the PPV.

McMahon Urging Tazz To Be More Of A Heel

Boss shaking up announce scene...

Vince McMahon has been urging Tazz to be more of a heel announcer recently. McMahon feels that Tazz and Michael Cole are agreeing too much on things which takes away the edge of their announcing.

McMahon thought the same thing about Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler which is why he threw Jonathan Coachman into the mix.

What? Cruiserweights on a PPV not named Rey Mysterio?

Hey, if it's that or nothing for the cruisers, I'll definately take 10 minutes of highspots only they can deliver.

^ What he said.

As long as 5 guys don't go out in the first 30 seconds and Kidman works everyone over with chinlocks I'm happy.

Well, now Ultimo Dragon can simultaneously get his Madison Square Garden/WrestleMania appearance before being cut the next day.

Ah, I get all happy and fuzzy when wishes come true.

And that's what's wrong with the company.

That's not what Mankinnd said at all. It's unrealistic to expect a WMXX card to contain 2-3 high profile, well-booked cruiserweight feud blowoffs. A cruiserweight battle royal will be a change of pace from the rest of the show, and should be fun to watch IMO.

Hell, there won't be one.

Especially if you just settle for less and say "yay!" over a battle royale.

Well, I quite like the sound of a cruiserweight battle royal. You clearly don't.

Your second sentence seems to imply that if I moan about not having the exact card I want, the chances of a decent cruiserweight matchup at WMXX will be improved. I really don't see that happening.

If they do it like the Cruiserweight Contender Countdown back in the dying the days of WCW it could actually be pretty good. Essentially its like those Dudley Boy Invitational crap matches they stick on a PPV when they have no clue what to do with the tag titles but with cruiserweights its actually entertaining. If its just a straight battle royal then it won't be any good no matter who's in the match.

At least as Ultimo Dragon is in the CW battle royale, I'll be happy.

I agree about how Tazz should go back to heel status.

I know it will not happen, but if Ultimo Dragon just happened so someone win that battle royal, it would be one of my favorite parts of the PPV.

Ya, but then we'd just be stuck with 2 minute 'mini matches' before the next guy comes in.

What they should do is some sort of six pack elimination challange.

Better yet , give the crusiers a bit more recognition by making it a ladder match to compliment WMX.

Rey vs. Tajiri vs. Noble vs. Chavo vs. Ultimo vs. Paul London. They've got 5 hours to play with so it could at least go 15 minutes.

I don't see how accepting the half assed, lazy ideas this company puts forth will ever make it a good product again.

Eh, I have no problem with this.

It'll probably come down to Dragon vs. Mysterio anyway.

Okay AS, I'll sit here and whine that we NEED to see Rey vs. Ultimo for 20 minutes at Wrestlemania. Vince will read this and say "My God the fans have spoken" and make it be.

I'm not saying it's the best idea for the cruisers; it's far from that. But it is a good idea.

It's like this: For your birthday you get a $20 bill from your Aunt. Well, she could've easily given you $50 since she can afford it. It's not settling for less. It's accepting a good idea, even if a great one is out there.

Meh...considering Mania's got so many 'big name' matches rumoured, I'm surprised they're even considering this. I don't like it, much like AS...and hell, I'm a battle royal mark. But anyone who expects more from Vince is deluded. He only really sees big things for a handful of cruisers.

I think it's a decent idea when you think about it. WM 17 had that filler Gimmick Battle Royal, and it was fun. A fun Crusierweight melee is better than no Crusierweight match, and seeing as they're about the only two choices...I'd settle for it. Plus it'll be a refreshing change from the big time matches at Mania, which is good.

Still...we'll see if this happens or not in a few months won't we. I'm not holding my breath.

As for Taz...that's pissed me off. Face Taz is doing NOTHING wrong on commentary. He's adding more to commentary as a face than he does as a heel, and he's not believable right now in heel mode. He'll have to be a complete TE esque jerk again. Plus that means Cole has to play uber-face to compensate, which is when he's at his worst.

Maybe it will be like the Hardcore Title Battle Royale in WM 2000. 15:00, whoever has the title at the end is the champion (the mid-match title changes don;t count except for the last). Have like 5-6 guys: Mysterio, Tajiri, Dragon, London, and two guys no one likes (Kidman being one of them IF HES HEALTHY EVER)

The CW match sounds fun... I'm glad they're doing it.

The annoucing thing, though, shows how self-centered Vinnie- Mac is. He added Coach to the annoucer's booth and succeeded in making Raw worse. But hey, why not mess with Smackdown's announcer's, even though they're doing fine?

The appeal of the cruiserweights is that they fly all over the place *in and outside of the ring* - a battle royal eliminates those possibilities (or at least, greatly restricts it).

This just goes to show that Vince has NO IDEA how to handle cruiserweights. A 6 man tag would be a better idea.

A Battle Royal, assuming it's over-the-top only, allows them to go all over the place, jumping around the ring, the crowd barrier, the stage, etc.

Guys, there's only so much WrestleMania to go around and MSG costs quite a bit to loan it out for a day, so a 38-hour WrestleMania where everyone gets their own 45 minute match is just out of the question.

Yes, because having 10 guys in the ring at the same time really lends itself to high flying antics. It also goes against the psychology of a battle royal to be flying around off the top - so even if they do, it makes them stupid for doing so. And what's this about the stage and barriers? The action stays in-ring, the only flying to the outside will be when someone is eliminated.

A 6 (or 8 man, hell the 10 man mich pro matches were awesome) is a better solution - WCW did them and they were FUN. I can't think of a single fun cruiserweight battle royale (mainly because there aren't that many because they're stupid to do).

Tajiri/Yang/Sakoda/Chavo/Knoble vs. Rey/Kidman/Moore/Dragon/Funaki (throw in london if you want). Have them go all out.

Of course, that might risk them stealing the show and you can't have that

Guys, there's only so much WrestleMania to go around

An itty-bitty five hours

Why not take five minutes away from the first band performance, five minutes away from the second performance, and five away from the fake celebrity skit?

The band will suck and the celebs are c-list, so give their time to a match

1) they won't go the five hours...period.

2) I am seriously looking forward to WMXX...as it is like a fucking milestone to the federation...even in this shitty of times...that they made it 20 years in the first place.

3) WWE is not going to please everyone with the PPV...that's a given. Somebody is going to be pissed. Even if EVERYTHING is booked perfectly...the pissed person will be saying "why couldn't they have done that last year!"

4) I want every single title in the federation somehow defended at this PPV...I don't care how it's done...and since the CWs have a title...I want to see it up for grabs...

I don't care if they have a TLC Parking Lot Brawl with the title hanging from the ceiling with duct tape and string...

...I want every damn belt defended somehow...that's all I ask.

Perhaps it's pinfall/submission only?
