WWE going back to 2 min intervals for Rumble?...

Recommended Posts

Guest Ghettoman

I just saw a pretty good add for the Rumble, but I noticed one of the things they said was "30 men, 1 hour".

Does anyone know if there going back to the 2 minute intervals, or if this was just some fuck up of sorts? Was it always at 2 minutes and I'm just losing my mind? Somebody's got the answer and I want it damnit!!! ;)

I thought it was two minutes last year.

Nope...last year was 90 seconds.

It probably will be again this year just so they can fit all the matches on the card (and they may STILL have to drop the CW title match to Heat or something).

As long as they don't do like the 95 Rumble match then we're cool.

This becomes a point of conversation every year, so let me once again try to set the record straight: No matter what they tell you the set intervals are, the timing between entries is never the same throughout a Rumble. What happened last year has happened every year.

They book the Rumble sequence to sequence, like a series of mini-matches. When a sequence finishes, they bring the new guy in. They try to time them up the same (right around the "official interval" time), but some run short and some run long.

And one more point about last year: They originally planned on going with 2-minute intervals, but because the undercard ran long, they had to cut it down to 90 seconds. IIRC, Fink wasn't informed, and thus, he still said 2 minutes, while JR was covering by explaining the late change.

Yes, I know about the booking of the Rumble and irregular entrance times, but the official timing is still important to me.

If they announce 2 minute intervals, then they are booking 2 minute segments. Also, the overall time of the Rumble remains roughly the same, and a Rumble with "2 minute intervals" WILL go over an hour, which is my preferred situation.

This year's card has 5 matches outside of the Rumble itself. With HHH-HBK going 30 minutes, that leaves roughly 90 minutes for four matches, one of which is a cruiserweight match. Are you telling me that this timing can't be pulled off with ease?

Id say this time allocation if the Rumble gets an hour:

HHH-HBK: 30 minutes

Lesner-Holly: 25 Minutes (oh yes, it will)

Eddie-Chavo: 20 Minutes

Dudleys-Evolution: 15 minutes

Rey-Jamie: 10 minutes

That leaves 20 minutes for promos, etc.

You see now THIS I can live with, despite another kick in the ass to the cruiserweights.
