justsoyouknow 0 Report post Posted January 20, 2004 The warranty is expiring shortly on my X-Box, so I was considering modding it...unfortunately, I don't know where to start, what to get, etc. Any help on this one would be appreciated, guys. Basically, I remember awhile back someone talking about their X-Box and having the ability to store games on the hard drive, play burned DVDs, all that stuff. I'd like to do something similar. Anyone have any experience with this?

JJMc 0 Report post Posted January 21, 2004 My friend modded his a while back. He put in a 120 GB hard drive and somehow was able to store full games right on it and play them without the disk. He also had NES, Genesis, SNES and arcade roms. It was sweet.

Conspiracy_Victim 0 Report post Posted January 22, 2004 Modding an Xbox? *stares nervously at his machine* No I have no idea what you're talking about. None at all. Although I did hear you can, say, put a hard drive on your machine and burn games directly to your machine and get emulators for different systems (SNES, Jaguar, etc.), and play movies in .mpeg format much like what JMT said. That's all pure speculation and rumor though. *hides his machine from Bill Gates' secret police*
Guest HungryJack Report post Posted January 22, 2004 I had mine done. It's wicked awesome, with minimal soldering to be done.

Jobber of the Week 0 Report post Posted January 22, 2004 Mod Chip = No X-Box Live They have switches you can turn on and off now, like a Game Genie (if you remember the NES/SNES days with clarity.) Obviously, it's not as easy as flipping a switch if you install a larger hard drive.
