RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted January 21, 2004 I don't see this as that bad. I mean, Triple H and Benoit seem to be on pretty good terms from what I understand, and it seems like Triple H admires his ability. Plus, Flair loves Benoit, and we all know Trips bows on the ground Flair walks on, so I just can't see them burying Benoit. I could see some very, very good matches coming out of a Benoit-Triple H feud. Maybe you can't see it because your head's up your ass? 'Member the last time Benoit and HHH feuded? Yeah, he sure was put over there...*cough*... match wasn't that great either, and this was during HHH's "greatest year ever".
Highland 0 Report post Posted January 21, 2004 The bright side is we get to see Orton in the crossface. (I know I'm an Orton defender, but I've always been a fan of the Crippler.)

I could see some very, very good matches coming out of a Benoit-Triple H feud. IWC hates HHH. HHH hates the IWC. IWC likes Benoit. HHH has Benoit buried to spite IWC. Of course, it's childish for a company to do things for the sole purpose of spiting and alienating a portion of their audience. That being said...
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted January 21, 2004 Unfortunately what is a pretty good idea will end with a pedigree. Most good ideas usually do. Technically, this one will end in an RKO

RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted January 21, 2004 I'm betting it will end with Lucy the Dog urinating on Benoit. ... that's like, best case scenario.

2GOLD 0 Report post Posted January 21, 2004 As long as Chris doesn't get hit with the World's Strongest Slam from the giant Krackel bar then all is fine and dandy. Although Chris feels very out of place on RAW. But it does make sense that they need an experienced worker on the show considering it is filled with guys with either untapped talent or no talent. Plus, really...what are the odds that Crippler gets this big build up, transfers to RAW, gets in a huge feud with Triple H, goes for the title and takes a pedigree in the middle of the ring at Wrestlemania in Madison Square? I mean, really..what are the odds?

cbacon 0 Report post Posted January 21, 2004 I remain optimistic that Benoit will go over Hunter at Mania for the following reasons: 1. Triple H winning would result in viable post-mania programs for him to work, especially since the next PPV is a RAW brand 2. Trips went over at last years Mania over a guy that had been seemingly buried throughout the year in a match 4th from the top of the card. This year, being as big as it is, im sure the world title match will hold more merit, and almost certainly the hungry babyface challenger will go over. 3. The next PPV being in Edmonton, Benoit surely has to be involved in the main event. Losing to Trips at Mania and then having a rematch as the challenger again wouldnt quite have the same appeal. However, Benoit defending his newly one title would be a refreshing change of pace, whether it be against HHH again, Kane, or some sort of triple or fatal four way. Either way Benoit is finally getting the world title. I'm a little more excited to be a wrestling fan right now
Highland 0 Report post Posted January 21, 2004 Hey, we all know HHH is a "student of the game", so what would mean he knows it's time to put over someone deserving, like Benoit. Right? Right?
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted January 21, 2004 You all know Triple H isn't going to fucking win if him and Benoit is the main event. We all KNEW that HHH wasn't going to prove that black people suck last year. We all KNEW that Kane was going to get his revenge for being called a murderer and necrophilliac. RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted January 21, 2004 I could've sworn people were saying Booker had to win (WWE *columnists* were saying this as well) at WM 18.
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted January 21, 2004 Ahh...the optomism of someone who's favorite wrestler hasn't worked a program with HHH since his return from injury I know HHH is a busy man, but how's Edge's recovery coming along? Think he'll be able to fit in 2 or 3 PPV wins over Benoit before Edge's return? I remain optimistic that Benoit will go over Hunter at Mania for the following reasons: Stop right there. You're using reason and logic to surmise what WWE will be doing long term. That never works.
Guest Deebo Report post Posted January 21, 2004 If it's the main event, the heel isn't going to win. I mean it's fucking Wrestlemania XX, I dont care what kind of pull HHH has, you know Vince wants the show to end with the babyface winning and the streamers coming down from the rafters. That's how it's going to be and that's how it should be.

RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted January 21, 2004 Either way Benoit is finally getting the world title. I'm a little more excited to be a wrestling fan right now 1. Benoit is getting the Big Gold Belt. Brock Lesnar holds the WWE title. 2. You can't be a wrestling fan if you're happy with Benoit getting a second-best title. Someone who works as hard as Benoit has for so long deserves better. 3. I can PROMISE you this: Benoit will be worse off after his feud with HHH than was before it. Still excited? IIRC, he's the only heel to go over in the main at Wrestlemania. Trips has a way of taking that "not going to happen" and making it happen.

2GOLD 0 Report post Posted January 21, 2004 Doesn't seem like Cena is going to RAW and odds are Kane will go to Smackdown to feud with Taker. Which will make Smackdown HOSS CENTRAL. I wonder if JR is silently weeping that he's not the Smackdown announcer with all those hosses.
Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted January 21, 2004 4. RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted January 21, 2004 Yes he has held the Big Gold Belt before - in his arms. ... and he gave it up to go to the WWE. To hold the WWE title. *There* is the right storyline. But who cares about right?

Of course guys like Booker and RVD didnt escape his wrath, but whomever is on his good side (ie Shawn, Flair) usually benefit from a program with him. Goldberg of course, was a no brainer
Guest Deebo Report post Posted January 21, 2004 This is a totally different beast from WM 2000 or WM X-7, this is what the WWE is promoting this as the biggest PPV of all time. Vince is not going to want to send the fans at Madison fucking Square Garden home pissed by having the same ol', same ol' with Triple H winning again. It's going to be a big glorious celebration thingy to close out the show.
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted January 21, 2004 benoit jobbing to hhh might suck but it can still be a very good match and to me that matters the most. I don't know about that. The match they had together (singles, not the Power Trip/Chrises tag match pre-quad tear) didn't really click. So I don't know if they'd have a great match now. Good maybe, but I wouldn't get my hopes up or I might be disappointed. I don't see HHH selling as much for Benoit as he did HBK. Then again, HHH worked a good match with Booker (bad booking aside) so maybe I'm wrong.
