It is almost certain at this point that Chris Benoit will be moved to the RAW brand in a few weeks. The move may come as a result of Benoit winning the Royal Rumble and then demanding to face Triple H for the World Title at RAW.

Triple H hand picked Benoit for the RAW jump because he feels that he and Benoit can have high quality matches at the tempo Triple H is able to handle.

Benoit will not be pushed as RAW's top babyface (that spot is reserved for Shawn Michaels right now) but he will be given a main event program with Triple H and possibly the WrestleMania XX main event spot.

WWE management also feels that Benoit will be able to come in and instantly help Randy Orton and Batista, two guys WWE is pushing for main event spots but feel are lacking in the ring.

WWE considering moving John Cena to RAW but seemingly have decided on Benoit.

Anyway, although it shouldn't be brought up again, especially considering the multiple discussions on it lately; I never chipped in. But if it does happen this way, screw them.

Hey, great contribution.

Honestly, I'm not surprised. I've given up hope Benoit will ever be seriously pushed in North America.

Until Benoit actually jobs to HHH, this is all speculation. Seems shockingly like something smarkish that's been written to create headlines. Maybe that's just me.

Rumour or not, my blood boils at the thought that they would have Benoit give up his quest for Lesnar and his title to go to RAW, essentially with his tail between his legs, and go after a consolation prize.

In kayfabe...

Benoit knows he can beat Lesnar...he hasn't proved he can beat HHH. He wants that. He also doesn't want Paul Heyman throwing obstacle after obstacle at him. Plus, leaving Smackdown for Raw would piss Heyman off. Liking Benoit or not, Heyman wouldn't want to lose him to the competition.

It's a situation that can be explained away.

But he's never stated it as such, at least not lately. There's no real basis of motivation to do that other than the deus ex machina that you gave. And that kind of lazy writing is what's killing their shows.

Besides, does he now proclaim that HHH's title is the more prestigious trophy, thus rendering Lesnar and his reign impotent by comparison? The only way they could pull that off in any satisfactory way would be to truly start a "wrestling war" between the two shows, actively poking jabs at each other in an attempt to prove which program is better. And they've proven time and time again that they're not willing to do it.

So Benoit is running away from the fat, balding GM?

THAT MAKES ME WANT TO CHEER HIM!
