and buy drugs and beat the shit out of people. Gotta love the Gang Task Force! The police station is literally 15min away yet the response time is about 2hrs unless its the gang task force since they just wanna beat ya up and rob ya anyways. The world sucks.

Why bother?

For CWM's situation, the only thing you should do is give him a pre-emptive "I told you so" and let him make his own decisions. You know damn well if he goes through treatment and all of that bullshit at his age, that he'll just waste your parents' money, and end up strung out again anyway. Let him fuck up like everyone else, and either he'll learn to deal with vice, or else quit it altogether. Also, just because you caught him doing coke doesn't mean he's a coke-head.

Today I went home to visit my parents and to help them with some heavy lifting since they aren't as young as they used to be. When I got there they were out but as it is was a pro-d day at his school my younger Brother was home. He's 16 and a good kid normally.

I walked into the house (i still have my own key) and my brother was sitting on the couch snorting a line of Jib (coke). I didn't know what to say so I slammed the door and took off.

I don't want to get him in trouble with my parents because I know how hardcore they are (my dad used to smack me around and my mom is a functioning alcoholic) but I know too many people who got fucked up because of hard drugs. I don't really know what to do.

If he's like any other 16 year old, then it's going to take a lot more than a talk to set him straight. And, no, kicking his ass will do nothing at all besides alienate him from you. It's going to take a dose of reality to get him to kick that habit. That's what it took for me [same age, same habit - it was about 10 years ago now I believe] - waking up with an extremely bloody nose one morning that made me say "Hey, maybe I should quit this shit."

I hope it works out..

The world sucks.

Good to see that we have optimists such as yourself to help improve things.

Bout time I got some recognition for my positive attitude

He's in the hospital. He was found OD'd in an alley. I'm working on trying to get him into foster care because home isn't a good place for him at this time.

If it's any consolation, our thoughts (Well at least mine) are definitely with you.

Just .. you know, stick as tightly to him as you can. I'm sure you know how much everybody needs somebody, sometimes.

ok, if they found him in an alley in the middle of winter, then this is the stage he's at right now. He'll either become a functional addict, a non-functional one, or he'll go clean from here. It's not hard to tell which is which.
