Slayer Posted January 23, 2004 Report Posted January 23, 2004 The joke is very dated. Welcome to 2004. You act like things have changed At least I didn't make a "Citizens of the 51st State" crack
Highland Posted January 23, 2004 Report Posted January 23, 2004 soveriegnty is all but dead in Quebec. And I refuse to acknowledge that Stasiak is from Canada, but if he is then my vote goes to Texas. Not even Benoit could make me change my mind. Fuck it, the fact Benoit is Canadian means we win by default.
Guest Besus Posted January 23, 2004 Report Posted January 23, 2004 Fuck it, the fact Benoit is Canadian means we win by default. Fuck it, the fact Eddie is Texian means we win by default.
Slayer Posted January 23, 2004 Report Posted January 23, 2004 Texas was once its own independent nation Can't say the same for Canada
Guest Anglesault Posted January 23, 2004 Report Posted January 23, 2004 (edited) I say both lose because texans and Canadians BOTH talk funny. And LOL at the "Orton-Hater Killer" Edited January 23, 2004 by Anglesault
Guest Dynamite Kido Posted January 23, 2004 Report Posted January 23, 2004 I think that the real question here is: What is worse, the Canadian accent, or Texas southern Twang?
Downhome Posted January 23, 2004 Report Posted January 23, 2004 Bruce "Brother Love" Pritchard is from Texas by the way, so that sways things towards that state. Anyone know who all is from SC right off hand?
Guest Anglesault Posted January 23, 2004 Report Posted January 23, 2004 I think that the real question here is: What is worse, the Canadian accent, or Texas southern Twang? The Twang has a degree of charm to it.
Guest Askewniverse Posted January 23, 2004 Report Posted January 23, 2004 Anyone know who all is from SC right off hand? I think Del Wilkes (The Patriot) is from Columbia, SC.
Downhome Posted January 23, 2004 Report Posted January 23, 2004 Anyone know who all is from SC right off hand? I think Del Wilkes (The Patriot) is from Columbia, SC. D'oh, you are exactly right, I can't believe I forgot about him. I know there are a few from my state, but for some reason I can't remember. I remember right off hand Columbia, Charleston, and a few more but I'm sure that's not all. Someone currently active is from Charleston I believe.
Downhome Posted January 23, 2004 Report Posted January 23, 2004 Ah yes, I just remembered that Sean O'Haire is from Hilton Head, SC. Woohoo. We're also home of The Fabulous Moolah!
deancoles Posted January 23, 2004 Report Posted January 23, 2004 Bruce "Brother Love" Pritchard is from Texas by the way, so that sways things towards that state. Canada should win Because they have "All American boys","I'm The Mountie" and "We're Not the Mounties" as entrance themes.
Guest Anglesault Posted January 23, 2004 Report Posted January 23, 2004 Ah yes, I just remembered that Sean O'Haire is from Hilton Head, SC. ::deducts 1000 points from SC::
Toxxic Posted January 23, 2004 Report Posted January 23, 2004 I think that the real question here is: What is worse, the Canadian accent, or Texas southern Twang? There's a Canadian accent? Face it, you all sound the same. God knows how many thousand sqaure miles of North America and the only accents that can easily be distinguished are ones from the deep south. And possiby Chicago, unless I'm thinking of New York. Now you try putting a Londoner and someone fom Glasgow in the same room and see if they can even understand what the other person is saying. THAT, my friends, is an ACCENT. "Ahum French, yew eediot! Vy elss do yew think I haf zis OUT-RAJEOUS AWCCENT!?"
pappajacks Posted January 23, 2004 Report Posted January 23, 2004 soveriegnty is all but dead in Quebec. Says who? That's what they said in 1987 when Rene Levesque passed away. 8 years later, 49.6% voted yes to sovereignty. Sovereignty will never die as there will always be at least 40% of sovereignists in Quebec.

Although that may not be the accent.
DMann2003 Posted January 24, 2004 Report Posted January 24, 2004 Whoever was listing Ohio how could you neglect Brian F'N Pillman. When he wrestled Alex Wright at the GAB 95 in Dayton he was the mega babyface. Wight was booed consistantly and Brian STILL put him over.

And can't forget the damn Newfies.

That seems to contradict the Bret Hart Principle.
AndrewTS Posted January 24, 2004 Report Posted January 24, 2004 That seems to contradict the Bret Hart Principle. The what? While I knew Bret was Canadian, he just sounded like a typical American to me anyway. Of course, it's possible to adopt another accent when you move away from your home region.

While I knew Bret was Canadian, he just sounded like a typical American to me anyway. Of course, it's possible to adopt another accent when you move away from your home region. He means that with Bret Hart, all of Canada was his hometown. So, the Bret Hart Principle was Canada was just one big city.
Guest Anglesault Posted January 24, 2004 Report Posted January 24, 2004 Sure. I had a bit of a Louisiana Twang during my college years. And the Bret Hart Principle: Everywhere in Canada is a Canadians hometown.
Detective Comics Posted January 24, 2004 Report Posted January 24, 2004 Well I am from Rhode Island, and we have Spike Dudley and Chuck Palumbo. I guess that puts us above Alaska... unless there is some important Alaskan wrestler I am forgetting about...
Guest JMA Posted January 24, 2004 Report Posted January 24, 2004 I'm from Alabama. And we have Bob Holly. ... (cries)
Guest Bottled Black Posted January 24, 2004 Report Posted January 24, 2004 We (Staten Island NY) got Big Vito. OK maybe not the most impressive, but Macho Man lived here for a little while
Highland Posted January 24, 2004 Report Posted January 24, 2004 I read somewhere that Randy Savage was Canadian. Not sure though.
AndrewTS Posted January 24, 2004 Report Posted January 24, 2004 I read somewhere that Randy Savage was Canadian. Not sure though. I wouldn't count on it. As far as I know both him and Hogan are native Sarasotans.
Guest wildpegasus Posted January 24, 2004 Report Posted January 24, 2004 And the Bret Hart Principle: Everywhere in Canada is a Canadians hometown. In Canada it's just like that. Perhaps because Canadians are always said to be friendlier on avearage and have only 10 provinces and two territories everyone has that sense of closeness. The signifigant lower population over a larger terrain also helps to keep everyone closer. The States have the larger population so the closeness just isn't there.

While I knew Bret was Canadian, he just sounded like a typical American to me anyway. Of course, it's possible to adopt another accent when you move away from your home region. Bret speaks like an avearage Canadian.
Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Posted January 24, 2004 Report Posted January 24, 2004 Alaska has the giant bear everyone fought in the 50s. So that pulls in front of Bob Holly and Alabama.
